It's not the same thing dumb *****. loool

ps. Eminem sold out.

How is it not the same thing, you retarded chimpanzee? Kanye West has done multiple songs with Rihanna.

You still don't get it do you?

Eminem is well-known for dissing pop-artists in his early years and nowadays he's doing songs with them.. He sold-out.

Ye never ever dissed pop-artists so saying that he sold-out by doing so is fucking retarded.

Simple as that.

He definitely chose Rihanna to suit Love The Way You Lie.

I feel that's obvious.

It's blatantly obvious he likes Rihanna and he likes that song. Why else would he make a sequel?

The theory that Eminem works with Pink/Rihanna/etc. for money is utterly stupid, Class...he's been a multi-millionaire for 12 years.

The theory that he does it for popularity is less stupid, but still doesn't make sense. Why would he want to appeal to a larger audience when he already appeals to a gigantic audience? His fanbase is larger than Pink's and Rihanna's...and suddenly he wants to cross over and get their fans too?

He most likely works with Pink/Rihanna because he likes them, as unfortunate as that fact may be (well...he has the whole domestic abuse reason for Rihanna as well). Which is the same reason Kanye West works with them. And that kind of double standard is the reason I posted in this thread in the first place.

So his whole career he never feels the need to work with pop stars (the stan chorus was sampled, and that wasn't a pop song so i doesn't count) and then on Recovery he suddenly wants to work with 3 of them? And does no songs with any actually good rappers?

And I'm not saying Eminem did it for the money and popularity but if you don't think there was pressure from his label to sell more after Relapse didn't reach expectations then you're being willfully blind to the situation.

Amadeo wrote:These aren't the days of The Way I Am. There is no label pressure on Eminem anymore. Every album is basically a guaranteed cash cow. They were probably thankful he was even putting out music in the first place, since the label was losing money in his long absence.

Not at all. Interscope was expecting Relapse to be huge and it didn't hit near their expectations, even though it sold really well. It was obvious they were pushing for a more commercial sound on the next album.

Eminem makes shitty music now, but he makes shitty music that he wants to make. If the label had any say on what he did, they'd remove the embarrassing "butt police" punchlines from his songs with Rihanna. But no, doesn't happen.

Labels would never change individual lines because they were bad. They would only ask him to remove something or censor it if they thought it was too offensive like the Columbine line. And the reason he "wants" to make those shitty punchline songs is because he saw that's what all the popular rappers were doing when he came back and he thought that's what the people wanted. I don't see how that's not obvious. He didn't just decide one day to fill his verses to the brim with horrendous wordplay.

As for your other points: Eminem never really worked with good rappers in the first place (even early on). He works with rappers he likes, and on a very rare occasion, that rapper will be good (Jay-Z/Royce Da 5'9, both of whom he still works with today).

He normally works with his label mates and friends.

He may also think they're good but he definitely started using them because they were the popular thing to do.

As crazy as that sounds.

The moment I thought he is never coming back and he must think they are good is when he literally used a Nicki/Drake/Wayne punchline.

I also see where Class is coming from - where Eminem would have been a bit disappointed with Relapse not being as well received as he's used to, and therefore making Recovery with the intention to get back on top. i.e. do what's popular.

The production on Recovery leads credence towards this.

I see selling out as changing what you want to do to do what's popular. So yeah, I would consider that selling out and I would also call any mainstream rapper that adopted the Lil Wayne esq punchlines as selling out.

And I'm not saying selling out is a bad thing. J. Cole sold out on Cole World and Lupe sold out on Lasers but they're still both two of my favorite artists.

Actually yes I am, I would prefer they hadn't sold out but it's not a deal breaker.
