I see selling out as changing what you want to do to do what's popular. So yeah, I would consider that selling out and I would also call any mainstream rapper that adopted the Lil Wayne esq punchlines as selling out.

And I'm not saying selling out is a bad thing. J. Cole sold out on Cole World and Lupe sold out on Lasers but they're still both two of my favorite artists.

Actually yes I am, I would prefer they hadn't sold out but it's not a deal breaker.

Selling out is bad, everything else being equal. But it doesn't necessarily make the music bad.

I've seen WBD played on a couple commercials and it was played at Ohio State football games and judging from this site a lot of people have said that it's a good song to work out to, so it fulfills it's purpose as a pump up song.

I think he choose Rihanna and Pink to make a good song as opposed to just chucking them on a hook to sell records.

I was just meaning there is evidence that Eminem sold out in general. And there was also a motive for him to sell out - Relapse wasn't anywhere near as well received as he was used to or expecting.

So you don't think working with pop stars to make his record better is selling out?

Not if the reason to put them on was to make a good song that he wanted to make. Which I think is the case.

Edit: I think you could have a case with Bruno Mars. Although, I think that was Royce pushing for it big time.

I think he did it because he wanted to make a good song so that it would be more popular because he thought Relapse wasn't received well because it wasn't good.

I just think "Oh I can't make a good song on my own, I need to these pop stars to be on it" and "Oh look at Lil Wayne doing all these punchlines, I should do them too" are both selling out

If he didn't want to do them or didn't think they were good, then yes.

But that's not really the case, unfortunately.
