don't mean to derail the thread, but Embase what are your thoughts on When Life Gives You Lemons by Atmosphere?

Oh and Eyedea is very, very good. I haven't gotten into him as much as Slug though.

Are you serious? The thread isn't derailed, the thread is about Eyedea and they're discussing Eyedea. If you want to point fingers you can point at everyone, including yourself. You made at least 3-4 posts talking about how Blu derailed the thread. You realize you're then derailing it to be about Blu's hypocrisy right? You haven't made a single post about Eyedea in this entire thread.

Blu, what are your thoughts on the production of BTT now? The album I mean.

I'm sorry and I now realize this entire thread has been destroyed by me.

Some of his stuff sounds written, and I know the multis look written, but a lot of it I believe is off the top with Proof, you can hear him fumbling and also often rattling off simple successive rhyme to buy him time to think of the next direction. Em said he was the most amazing freestyler he'd ever heard, I think a lot of his freestyle can sound written but isn't.

Proof was incredibly smooth and mixing and mashing with his flow.

No. Eminem was actually freestyling. You could hear him pause to think of words, you could hear his delivery start to trail off as his mind was thinking of something to rhyme. His rhyme patterns were sporadic like they are in freestyles because you have too randomly switch what you're rhyming if you can't think of something fast enough. Proof was doing none of that. Proof had all of those lines thought up already. At best he was putting them together on spot and at worst he had the whole verse already memorized. If you can't listen to the last freestyle I posted by Eyedea and recognize the greatness then I don't know what to tell you but you should probably stop discussing rap in this thread because it's really annoying me.

Excellent.

I guess I just didn't understand the album at first, that's why I didn't like the production that much. But now I'm sort of starting to realize what Eyedea was trying to do with it, and I'm starting to appreciate it more.

You better write something 'cause I'm gonna embarrass you with my written". Em picks it up when the 2nd beat comes in, but Proof kills the whole thing.

Em's always said Proof was the best freestyler he knows, and I believe that he's actually thinking of it right there.

No it was written. You can tell by his voice. He's not thinking while he's rapping that, he's recalling. Plus his rhymes are structured perfectly for a written verse. It's easy to spot writtens if you know what you're looking for.

From :48 on that's the greatest freestyle of all time. That's an insanely good ACTUAL freestyle and it's easy to see that he's actually free styling

Yes that is good, I just don't find the him that entertaining. But that part from 48 secs was fantastic. And bro, I will discuss hip-hop wherever I like, no matter how much it annoys you. :b:

No you don't find his FREESTYLES entertaining. You would love his albums, Eyedea mastered the thinking outside of yourself with deep concepts style that you're begging Eminem to do.

@Geno, I'd recommend E&A, because it has such a chill vibe. Act Right and Star Destroyer are my personal favorites off that album.

I'm not gonna try and speak for EminemBase, but I think he might just be referring to his voice and presence in general. I kinda feel the same way. Some guys, no matter how good they are lyrically, or whatever the concept / beat is like.. they're just not entertaining.

But I'll be honest, haven't heard much of his stuff. What's your best recommendation?

Eyedea's mic presence is phenomenal. He takes complete control of the beat and gets 110% out of his voice. He has an enormous amount of emotion in his voice.

And I can link you to his best songs but tbh for you it would be a waste of time. Eyedea isn't anything like strange/shady/slaughterhouse or anything like that. His music contains an enormous amount of thoughts and ideas and he doesn't care about cramming it full of multis. It's a lot to grasp and frankly you wouldn't be able to appreciate it.

Most people agree that his best album is By The Throat and that's what I used to get into him but it has an extremely unique sound. Blu got into him through E&A which is a more traditional sounding rap album but I would tell you to download all of his albums and sit down and just listen to them all and listening to what he's saying because it's truly an amazing experience and you'll be a changed person when you're done.

Well d/l all his albums and start from the beginning. I don't get this whole 'recommend' shit. If I'm going to actually listen to somebody, I want the whole picture, the whole story and to hear it in order as they progressed. Fuck listening out of order or randomly.

He didn't really release that. His mom had the tape saved and released it after he died. He made that when he was 14. That blows my mind.
