I thought this from day one.

It's like some of Kubrick's films like The Shining which got picked apart and misreceived in its day, and then a fresh generation checks it and realizes its brilliance.

"Beautiful" is still the turd on Relapse's shoe but other than that, I agree.

It's so obvious so many are personal hatreds too. I see Pitchfork / obviously gay writers obviously give him like 1-2 out of 10 every time now lmao. And always mention he's a 'homophone', obviously still misunderstanding him. Idiots.

Well that's no different to the fans.

And I wouldn't say that's proof they judged it blindly, I'd say that's proof they just want something that sounds like older Eminem, like most fans. They don't want too much change.

Everybody, including critics, simply loved "Beautiful" because it's an introspective, serious track.

They just all seem to love really boring Eminem. I've got no problem with Em being meaningful or serious, but on his life, in the same ways? yawn. Where as something like "Space Bound" or "Love the Way You Lie"... he's telling stories, nailing themes. Much better.

It's a good album by itself, but it made for a poor decision as a comeback album.

Relapse would have worked pretty well if Em still stuck with the controversial raps before he went on hiatus, instead of moving onto the family-friendly topics.

I feel like this album really needs an earful to get what he's saying, a non-Eminem fan WILL hate it on first listen.
I really hope that one day they put it on again and capture the beauty of it.

Giving it 2/10 is way too harsh and ignorant.

It's a 5 out of 10, not good for Eminem

i thought it was a very good album, very innovative.

imo, a good diversion, but it's good that eminem didn't adopt it for the long term

Relapse is one helluva album. I don't see how people can deny it's power lyrically, sonically, thematically, vocally... it's fucking near perfection in terms of a cohesive rap album.

I wouldn't mind TOO much if the critics were just like "it's good, but just not amazing" but a lot of critics straight up trashed it. Which is just absolute bullshit anyone with a brain and perhaps a little patience can see that this is a damn good album.

And Buffalo Bill... :flutter: :flutter: :flutter:

I think it's good that Relapse was trashed by some critics. I think it's good for Eminem to have an album that makes people confused about what he was trying to do, and make them not like it at first. However, over time you see some people give it more praise. It just raises is cult classic type status, which I think is good for an artist to have in their collection.
