I didn't say Eminem did, I said Eyedea would have had to.

If Eyedea accepted the deal, went over mainstream beats and dumbed down his music to appeal then he could have been close to Eminem's level.

Whether he could reach Eminem though is irrelevant. You don't need to reach Eminem's level to be famous. :coffee:

Lol, you're the guy who believed everything in the Zeitgeist movie was true. Your opinion is invalid.

Irrelevant to the conversation, but no I don't.

we said "get famous" now all of a sudden it's "eminem famous"? Clearly arguing semantics when you're wrong always works... /sarcasm

There simply is no formula to get famous. To reach that level of fame you have to break any and every mould. Although, even that doesn't ensure fame. Absolutely nothing does.

>implying Eyedea's music wasn't breaking any sort of mould or barrier

I can't even respond to that..

Nas didn't get famous after dropping Illmatic, which is considered a hip hop masterpiece and was literally a game changer. Just because an artist is talented and creates amazing work doesn't mean he will be famous.

This is totally irrelevant. 1. Nas IS famous today, and 2. Eminem wasn't famous until his second album...
Canibus was buzzing at the same time as Eminem and look at the difference in their career.

Canibus also got black balled from record companies and isolated from the mainstream for the srltupid shit he did. Plus, he sounds retarded... Not a good example.

I don't think anyone in the world would agree with you that Eyedea could be as famous as Eminem if he wanted to.

We said get famous. And yes, given his accomplishments and drive, he could have. He didn't want to.

Anyway that's all I have to say on the issue. If you want to continue to believe that "the biggest name in battle rap" could team up with fucking Diddy and be on the same level of fame as Eminem that's cool.

>names half of the argument
>conveniently leaves out the part where Eyedea had a full length album at 16 that shits on almost everything out today

Great argument you got there, stan.

You and the 15 other people who also like Eyedea can fantasize about his name up in lights

Literal underground legend with a cult following. Completely preist statement here.

That seems to be your go-to..

but I couldn't give two shits.

Judging by the length of this post, I'm going to assume you give a little more than 2 shits.

Although the argument is extremely subjective and can be argued either way, you argued your point the worst way possible, and with terrible examples.

Given Eyedea's intelligence and accomplishments, there's a very slim chance he wouldn't have been successful.

I just realized he reused an idea from Grand's Sixth Sense on Smile. So cool

@Geno: I would like to know your opinion on his experimental Album "By The Throat"

Definitely, Eyedea would have been famous if had been signed to Diddy. He would have left him sooner or later because Diddy is no justice to Eyedea's talent. The real concern is: How much bigger would he have become if he was signed? I think, not much and definitely not as big as Eminem. But, that's out of the equation, because both Rappers rapped in a different dimension altogether. Eye had that spark, but not the one that would have put him at the top of the game. He would have been nothing more than Prime Jay-Z.

The 16 y.o argument is vague. Kids at that age do almost the same. This comes from a hard core Eyedea fan. :b:

You say "nothing more" as if Hov isn't a legend in mainstream culture lol.

but you're totally off base with saying kids do almost the same as he did at 16. By that age he was (mostly) refined and was saying things FAR ahead of his age. We can name examples of child prodigies, but that doesn't discount him as being one. It's not vague (bad word choice), it's completely true.

His ability to process the world in such a different and unique way would have turned the mainstream upside down. Mainstream is JUST getting into introspective type, deep personal analysis. He was doing this 12 years ago.

Exactly. That's the position that I can imagine him taking; legendary. Although I can't imagine what he would have done with that, though.

I would have loved if he had brought that perception, attitude, thought process into the Mainstream. But, it was his choice. The fans still got exposed to his Music, none the less.

No. No it's not. I dont think you fully comprehend his genius.

Eyedea was saying things at 16 that Eminem wouldn't comprehend.

Retarded claim is still retarded :y:

Because you have no argument. Even if the chances were small the chance was still there. It wasn't zero, therefore he could have.

So you're saying that technically Eyedea, just like every other person ever born, could have been as big as Em simply because the chance wasn't absolutely nil?

That I could agree with, but it has little to do with talent.
