He rhymed nothing but one syllable that whole time except for "selfish / smelt it" which is elementary as fuck. If you're going to praise anything about this song, it's his flow, which isn't that great either, but his rhyming? Hell no, the rhyming was fucking shit. Lil Wayne rhymes better than this.

this is just because you don't like him...
The choice of the words and syllabes was clever on this song and as you can see, you're the only one to think the song wasn't great so far.
Couldn't even find someone who could hate on this on other forums :confusion:

I don't like him because he's over-hyped and his rhyming isn't that great. You're confusing the cause and effect here.

Just because he has a nice sounding flow doesn't mean he's great. Wayne can flow sometimes and he's still a hot piece of shitty garbage.

That's cool for you, a lot of ppl think his rhyming is great.
I'm not following the trend... I just think that he's the best rapper right now and the man isn't over-hyped.
Was waiting for an artist like that for ages so for me (and for a whole community from what I can see), he's clearly the saviour oh the west coast.
You can keep saying he's over-hyped by a lot of artists/the media/a lot of fans, it won't change anything :sweating:

This is just a really simple freestyle verse for a simple beat dude. You don't expect every single one of your favorite rappers to spit some 7 syllable bars whenever they hop on a freestyle, do you?

And besides, Kendrick's already shown his main focus isn't on rhyming, but the message itself. Hell, he used the miracle/spiritual/lyrical rhyme scheme on a song off Section.80, but his word choice and storytelling ability is still incredible.

yep, his rhyming is usually incredible but as you said, gkmc was all about creativity and lyrics.

There's a difference between personal taste and trying to judge quality even if you don't like the album. There really isn't an argument to make that is going to convince ppl/artists and media this isn't a classic. "I don't like kednrick or his songs" isn't a valid reason. Despite using many different producers, the album executed a brilliant concept maintaining fluidity and flow throughout . The lyrics were just amazing. There was creativity and personality sprinkled into the theme. Everybody doesn't have to like the album, but that doesn't take away from its quality. I don't like Illmatic and TSSLP that much, but I can still listen to them and acknowledge what makes them clasic and amazing.

Why the fuck not? It's a freestyle; not exactly going for message/content, are they?

Awesome, he can have all the messages he wants but if you can't take the time to put in some fucking above-average rhyme schemes... I can't appreciate his writing. I just can't.

Eminem can fuse story-telling with kick-ass rhyming and with Kendrick it's just the former and people fucking compare the two? Fuck outta here.

You can like him if you want, I'm not holding that against you, I'm just saying I don't like him. :y:

I'd rather listen to a rapper spitting about some actual content on a freestyle than rapping like Canibus lol.

But you're forgetting his above-average storytelling abilities, his nice flow, his above-average creativity. Rhyming is only a small portion and I'm sure he has time to improve on it if really wanted to. His music is still very enjoyable and it surprises me you can't get into him, oh well.

Kendrick can rhyme however this wasn't good, well everything was but the rhyming.

Nobody is talking about 7 syllable bars smh. Plus freestyles are usually made to showcase the rapper's skill. Rhyming and stuff.

I guess only rhyming falls under a rapper's "skills" nowadays.

Doesn't matter what you're saying, as long as you're rhyming a bunch of words!!!

What else is good in this freestyle but his flow?

So only the content falls under a rapper's skill? And yeah the content is ok but the execution isn't good.

@Rev I'm not hating but these guys just can't accept when someone doesn't praise K.Dot lmao.
