So how many Best Of 2012 lists did Slaughter & Yela make?

Postby TRShitty » Dec 26th, '12, 08:07

Oh yeah...none.

And how many did Kendrick Lamar make?

Oh yeah...all of them.

...at the top.

This is what happens when you make a compromised forced soulless sellout album.

Maybe instead of making the next Recovery they should try to make the next Good Kid Mad City.

Ya bish!!!!

Not sure you'll get any arguments here...

I agree.

SH and YW deserved to fail. Bullshit, deserves to fail.

They need to stop compromise aiming for hits and money as providing for their family; we're not here to employ you guys, you're supposed to be artists.

When they start making proper, heartfelt and original art and stop making what they think will work and stop trying to trick people who don't like the music to begin with into buying it - then they will succeed. Em needs to learn that too now; Em can still sell by compromising because he's still original and different enough, but he needs to stop applying his Recovery template to all Shady artists now. It's fake.

I'm glad Yelawolf got the picture.

That guy knows what's up. He heard his fans, and he went back to what he does best. He knew from the beginning what he was doing though, and made it clear. His was a tactical move, that could have worked with enough backing, to bring in a wider audience that hasn't heard of him yet. Convert them over, bring them in on what he does, and then build his fanbase. Instead, he disappointed his existing fanbase, and built just about nothing.

Slaughterhouse seemed to think that they were making something so goddamn special that "Throw it Away" was an acceptable compromise to their artistic integrity. Well, no, it wasn't. Those guys can't seem to get together to make anything incredibly interesting anyway, there's no need to fuck it up even more by bringing Swizz Beats in to make a fucking strip club anthem. Guess what, I've been to the strip club once or twice, and I've heard Eminem playing in there multiple times in one night. Granted, not top caliber Eminem songs by any means, but a far shot from "Throw it Away", which is exactly what should have been done with the idea to make this song in the first place.

Yelawolf said fuck it, and went back into his pre-major mindset. That will work for him, because he was able to build with less, anything he gets now as a result of the increased resources and association with Eminem will be a bonus. Slaughterhouse is full of solo rappers, essentially. They may not be able to agree enough, or break themselves down in front of eachother, to take the risks necessary to make truly unique and innovative songs. We shall see, because those guys can all rap, but they seem to lose any kind of true artistry once they get together. Take away the alcohol and drugs? Well, it might work for them, but I'm not sure that's what caused them to settle for shitty song concepts and awful beats.

Yelawolf has already proven to me that he's going in the right direction.

Heart of Dixie was a step in that direction, and Psycho White only reinforced the idea that he's not going to be fucking around anymore with the attempts at making a radio album.

I feel Yela should have realized the "true picture" before his major label debut. At least it would have left a good 1st impression on everyone. Least Eminem could have done is given him a dope collaboration, a good promotion. But he got none. It's good that he recollected his moves and did some immediate measures to correct his assumptions and I'm really seeing a up for this guy.

As far as SH is concerned. The results were obvious. They were just not cohesive to be in a group; so fuck them.

I enjoyed the album a lot, but it was a huge let down for me tbh. Expected way more.
