From popping tags to popping plaques. Five months after hitting the ‘net, Mackelmore and Ryan Lewis’ single “Thrift Shop” has gone platinum. The song is currently number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Congrats!

It's funny because these guys going it completely alone made more money off of this one song than most majors would likely make off of an entire album going gold.

That's absolutely true. They made 100% of every dollar they sold, which is great.


I'm unsure how I feel about this song though. The other day some girls I was hanging out with were talking about how much they like Macklemore and were playing this song but they couldn't name one other song by him. I mean, I'm happy he's getting bigger and getting new fans but people that only know Thrift Shop really annoy me.

I like the song but its not my favorite my him. My 2 favs are Jimmy Ivoine and Wing$ which is funny because Wing$ is like a diss at Jordan's and yet I still buy them.
