one of Jay-Z's few missteps

Postby Ticalrecords » Jan 13th, '13, 05:54

if you've heard JayZ's song Come and Get Me, from Life and Times, Vol 4 , i'm sure yall agree that when the beat gets fucked up for a minute and switches, it completely disrupts the song's flow. the song itself is great but that he should have just used DJ turntable scratches or something, basically i'm saying idk why he thought that transition sounded good. thoughts?

The only thing I have a problem with is this song off The Blueprint where he messes up his flow and it sorta disrupts the flow of the song as well.

Basically everything Jay Z has done since The Black Album has been a misstep.

He killed that jungle song. Some lines on that>>>>>>>>>Ems rhyme after rhyme without saying shit from 2010-2012.
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

I hate when rappers pause and go "uh" after every bar. It's lazy as shit and Jay does it more than annnnyone.

I think he was doing that on purpose though, cos then he switches his flow up and says "I ain't about to sit back and keep rhyming one syllable (naw)".

I don't believe he was throwing jabs at Jay specifically but I do think he was making a statement about that style of rapping.

loll ok, ok, i will try proving my point.

Murder to excellence:

if you put crabs in a barrel to ensure your survival/
you gon end up pulling down ppl who look just like you
whatup blood? whatup cuz
its all good - i love us//

^aite its not the greatest, but at least he didn't get preachy

now please, domino, domino
only spot a few blacks the higher i go
What’s up to Will? Shout out to O
That ain’t enough.. we gonna need a million more
"Kick in the door" Biggie flow
I’m all dressed up with nowhere to go

the domino reference is actually really good. a) its a rich man's game b)you win the game by having the least amount of dots on the domino (the dots are black - hence the reference).

Why I Love You

i love the rhyme scheme of this song.
the second verse,
"fly pelican fly - turn the jets on it but first i shall digress on it
wasn't i good king?" and then kanye comes in "maybe too much of a good thing"

and the third verse, really? you need someone to point that one out?

"paranoia - cuz the homie that said he'll blast for ya
is now blasting for ya - that's an assassin for ya

Who Gon Stop Me

yk what, fuck it as far as yall care, the entire song is wack. but admit you laughed when he said
"i'm riding dirty tryna get filthy" loll. idk, i do....

actually, this song has my (and probably his) blanket response for yall.

"people talking - they bitch made" :coffee:

What…

It's Jay-Z, not Wiz Khalifa.

Jay might not have the best rhymes but his content makes up for it.

And he hasn't been average the past 5 years? See: WTT.

I don't think Jay-Z has been shit for the past 5 years, but his last solo was terribly average.

Why should Jay-Z care about making dope verses anymore? He's insanely rich, has an amazing wife and has a kid now. If he just wants to relax and have fun with making music he can. Not everyone is trying to make groundbreaking stuff.
