Can you consider Andre 3000 a GOAT?

Postby Trimss » Jan 16th, '13, 12:29

I mean he's one of my favorite and his work with OutKast is fucking amazing.

But dude doesn't even have one solo album.. So can he be considered as one of the best rappers out there? I don't know if you understand my point so I'll explain quickly.

When you're a group/crew/duo, some ideas might come from you, some ideas might come from the other guys. It's not fully "your" work ya dig?

Yeah, top 10 at least. I love his work. His rapping skills are enough to put him on up there. He doesn't necessarily need a solo album, and let's remember Love Below.

I hate reasons like this because they are complete bullshit. Biggie only put out 1 album when he was alive. Life After Death came out after his death but still we rank biggie as one of the best of all time so why can't we do the same with 3K?

I've never listened to an Outkast album. I like their hits, but I have never really sat down and listened to an Outkast album. And as I'm typing this, I realize I do own Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, but I didn't care for The Love Below at all, only liked Speakerboxxx. Also, I've never been blown away by any of his "classic features". I guess what I'm trying to say is that I've never seen what the big deal is about Andre 3000. I'll reserve official judgment until I actually listen to an Outkast album though.

The whole Pac (west coast) vs Biggie (west coast) thing is what made people hold these two so high.

But I honestly don't consider B.I.G as one of the greatest, not only due to his small discography but also because he's not really that great. I'm a huge fan btw.

I like Biggie but the living work is always better than after your gone. One reason I prefer Pac over Biggie is that Pac always put out and worked on new music. It's sad that we only got 2 Biggie albums because we were only seeing the beginning of how great he was. It would be like it Em was killed after MMLP.

My thing is why can people consider Biggie a GOAT when he put out 2 albums and not 3Ks? Sure 3Ks hasn't put out many solo work but I think 3Ks works best when he's with Big Boi during Outkast albums. Outkast has put out 6 albums and one even went diamond! 3 Stacks really should be above Biggie in my mind.

The thing that was so great about 3 Stacks is his personality. Jay, Big, and Pac all act like gangsters but 3 Stacks is the type who wouldn't act that. He was a lot more intelligence. 3 Stacks wasn't the type who would say kill your bitch or other ego shit. He was a little more soft but that is what made him so different. While he was soft, he could still go as hard lyrically as any rapper. When people think of rappers, they think of gangsters (maybe not now but when 3 Stacks and Big Boi were doing Outkast) but 3 Stacks came with a different personality and different vision. That's one reason why he's in my top 5 because he was just so different then everyone at the time. Only person I could think of like that would be Em but Em wasn't as different as 3 Stacks was.

I would call Outkast goat(s), but not just Andre. They had such great chemistry and blended together so well they were a true duo so I cant just single out Andre.

Absolutely you can. Also, he does have a solo album really (The Love Below), as that double album they put out was really two solo albums as one double-album. But they made them separately.
