I understand people download music illegally, I do it myself at times. This is a project that I've poured 2 years of my life into; however, and I would like to at least wait until it's released for that to happen. So, if you downloaded the songs, I'd like to ask you to please not post them anywhere online.

Your reply was that of a fan wanting to let the artist they appreciate know that they weren't trying to offend. You were speaking humbly, and letting him know that whatever you could do to help, you would. In that context, you didn't sound scared.

In a humorous context though, the joke could be made that you were. It's all good though.
