Does this total silence on the news front make you think Em and his team have just REALLY made sure no information or anything is leaking or being spoken about this time so that he can come totally out of the blue and drop a bomb; or do you think he's still not properly working on it?

I really wish it was the former, and the fact Em himself sounded kind of... cockily assured of "guess I'll drop another album" or whatever he said last time on 106 and Park makes me think that he's pretty close to being done with it, or is very confident at least... but then seeing him work with Skylar and knowing he's exec producing her album... and knowing he said he was only just getting in to it last August after doing SH... all this makes me think he's barely started focusing on it...

Something about the way he's gone about this, somehow makes me think he's been sneakily working on it himself, perhaps producing the bulk of it - maybe using all these side projects as practice, knowing he was going to produce this one himself, as... it's kind of weird for him to drop that hat with it cemented on the side IF he wasn't even properly in to the album yet, as that would tie him down blindly...

So something in me thinks he's nearly ready and is going to surprise us. I hope so.

Late August of last year was when he let the word out that he was starting to work on it. The release could be any time this year.

@EB, I really fucking hope he's doing something like that. This album is going to be a significant factor in how his overall discography is perceived, and I think that he's played around with so many different styles that we might get something unlike anything we've heard before from him. Relapse was this frantic burst of technical skill, recorded during a flurry of sessions in order to get an album out. Recovery was to some extent a response to the reception of Relapse to some extent.

Right now, there isn't actually any strong motivating factor. He's coming up on 3 years since he had a proper deadline, so I'm hoping that the result will be an album he's had time to properly create.

according to my probably not-so-accurate calculations, the album will be announced any time now.
from relapse to recovery was 399 days. during that time, he made relapse 2 and recovery so lets just say half that time was spent on recovery. tracklist was released may 27th so the album was completely done anywhere between 30-50 days before release. so that narrows it down to about 170 days working on recovery. its been 241 days since he announced he was working on the next album so i expect an announcement anytime.

Well, maybe Eminem has been FULLY focused on the side projects thinking they will succeed. There was much fanfare about Welcome to Our House and that took a year to create. Skylar Grey's album has only just been completed (3 months at most). He's done collaborations with RIhanna. He's helping 50 cent with his album. He is working on Detox. I mean, maybe he just hasnt fully focused on THAT project as the other music projects take his time.
