Slim shady is a real person... Idk what y'all niggaz is talkin about. Slim Shady is a new style, different flow/lyrics/masterpieces, and a self centered joke around Em. If you wanna get technical, then EMINEM is falling off. He is more worried about his fame then his lyrics at this point, it's getting ridiculous. He hasn't come out with a go-hard verse, that makes me feel like there is ANY hope left in him. Bad Meets Evil (not going to lie) was a raw track. He had good flows, and on some songs he has some dope lyrics. But unless he puts months into each song for his new solo track, and goes back and listens to his old tracks - i don't see me ever enjoying his music like I used to. I remember when all the singles came out - What The Beat was the happiest I've ever been no lie. He needs to bring slim back. I don't give a fuck about how old he is.... he has it in him.

I will paraphrase Eminem from HIS OWN BOOK which HE WROTE: Slim Shady is the guy who shows up afte a couple of shots of vodka. That's all. Slim Shady is Eminem without a censor. He is the representation of everything people want to say but won't. Unfortunately, Slim Shady as a persona CANNOT WORK IN TODAY'S WORLD. It is LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE to use shock value lyrics to your advantage anymore, due to the INTERNET, and sites like Reddit, where Hitler and school shooting jokes are common. And Bad Meets Evil (the one you're referring to) is not a track, dipshit.

I think the thing that really necessitated the creation of this alter ego was the fact that he was departing from his earlier style in such a crazy way.

He was Eminem. He had been known as that in one form or another since he was a teenager. That was and forever will be associated with him as a person. So when you think about how he must have been kind of nervous at first, to make such a radical change in his style and content, it makes sense that he might want to separate himself from it in a way. Coupled with the fact that he was getting some negative feedback from people he knew about his new drug content (including from Proof) I can definitely see why he would want to conceptualize the character saying these things.

After he blew up, of course, there was no longer any separation. People started to split his selected work and tracks up saying "this is Eminem" "this is Slim Shady" and "this is Marshall Mathers", when the distinction between the personas wasn't really necessary (or effective) anymore. So, he'll always be Slim Shady as long as he's making tracks where he's saying things that are offensive. Whether or not he does that well--or enough--is up to fan interpretation.

How am I a YouTuber? 4/5ths of everyone on this site is shit talking him, and you're taking me way too literally. In a way Slim Shady was a real person in his own mind. I think of it as a figure that he WANTS to be. Just because he said something doesn't mean that's what it is. In plenty of songs he talks about what SHADY would do, and how Marshall can't stop him, or he has no control. It's an alter ego; therefore being 2 people. We all saw the south park where the City Sushi guy is a bunch of different people at once cuz of bipolar. It's an entire new style (like I said) that he created. In a way it's a completely different person.
