Possibly.

I'm just trying to determine the legitimacy of the claims that Jesus was real/fake.

Yeah, from what I've been able to find there is practically no historical evidence for the existence of Christ--you know, outside of the religious testimony itself--from contemporary historians. Almost none, and the small amount that does exist is questionable, either due to transcription inconsistencies or the fact that the historian accounts were long after the supposed existence of Christ.

I mean, taking the Bible's word for it is all well and good...but I'm just saying, from the perspective of an outside logical mind, I can't help but feel like there isn't much extra-biblical evidence to support it. Of course, I'm sure that there is information there that I'm not familiar with, and there's a possibility that I could be completely convinced of his existence.

It would be preferable, I think. Structure, and all that...

I was told by a door knocker a couple of years ago that there is more historical evidence that points towards Jesus' existence than evidence to suggest Julius Caesar existed. I've never reasearched this but does anyone know whether or not that is true? I find it difficult to believe, but I am not a historian and history is far from my best subject.

I mean, if you count the Bible I guess that's a decent body of evidence, but even that has flaws and isn't exactly consistent enough to qualify as strong historical evidence to me.

Beyond that? No, I haven't found much evidence at all. Of course, I don't know about Caesar.

The Bible is not proof. The Bible is the claim.

The Bible isn't even decent evidence. It was written well after Jesus' death by people who weren't even the apostles.

Interesting how no one writes about Jesus during his alleged lifetime.

someone came into where i work like 3 weeks ago with a shirt that said "abstinence, 99.9% effective".

which made me really think how stupid this argument was. if a girl got pregnant today and said a god got her pregnant and she was a virgin you'd all fucking laugh and call her a fucking liar, but somehow people believe it because they were told/taught it.

to me, thats insane

If he could do all this where is Jesus now? Things like this make me question my faith.
