I hate to sound like a Stan but some people on here have a point:
Why is Rakim a GOAT if he has 2 good albums, but made nothing exceptional after 1992.
But when Eminem has a 5 year period of making bad music, he is disqualified?

In fact, this is not MY argument.
What trimss said is one of the most used arguments at the moment to explain why the new hip hop artists (kendrick, Asap etc) are "changing the game"
Everything u said would make perfect sense if ur comparing those artists to fresh man artists. Of course Kendrick will inspire the newer dudes and show them u dont need to sell out or have pop crap on ur album in order to sell or even take the money route and rap about how much money u got or how many bitches u got.

2006 is goat though

I agree but it's still a big change in the game tbh.
Can you give me the name of a recent uncompromised hip hop album that had success on the mainstream scene ?
Of course artists like Eminem, jay-z, ... did it a decade ago but they don't do it anymore. (not saying they can't but still, they're releasing albums with pop chorus on some of their songs)
And if you look carefully at Eminem's singles, Most of his recent successful singles have pop stars on the chorus. (LTWYL, Lighters, 50 cent - My Life,...)
The artists like Game, 50, and a lot of other artists aren't doing good on the mainstream scene anymore and artists like Nas don't go mainstream.
And what does this have to do with influencing Eminem? none of those were lead singles of any of his albums and My Life isn't Em's song.
I still don't know why you keep saying Kendrick is a big change in the game when Em already did it more than a decade ago.

Because Rakim is considered a pioneer.

Oh wow, you quoted me NOT talking shit. Finally saw my post in Backstage and gave up, did you? I applaud you.![]()
But pertaining to your post, no it wasn't...2006 was REALLY when shit started to fall apart.
And on the topic of Em, he isn't compromising SHIT with these recent verses lol. In fact, I'd say he's rapping about what he wants to. If he wanted to appeal to the masses, he'd write My Life part 2. Which is what you all wanted him to do...I really think you all just don't know what you want and will forever not be satisfied. I think I that point it's time to move on and let the people who do still enjoy the music enjoy it,

And Eminem is a legend. But Rakim is excused? Eminem, who really only has one true bad album.

What post in backstage? I'll "talk shit" if you post something idiotic like you usually do
But pertaining to my post, yes it was. Food and Liquor, Hell Hath No Fury, Hip Hop Is Dead, Mood Muzik 2, Fishscale, A Piece of Strange, Game Theory etc. There are bad albums released every year, the good ones are memorable so we seem to forget the shitty ones.
And on the topic of Em, who brought up Eminem because I certainly didn't. No1curr he's a huge faggot that has sucked for nearly a decade, get over it

"One true bad album"? Everything Eminem has released since his comeback was average. His first three albums placed him on such a high level but his recent material will soon overshadow his masterpieces and it will be the downfall of his legend-status.
Encore still better than MBDTF tho.
