DETROIT, MI - The creator of a reality show called "Motor City Wives," expected to profile the lives of seven Metro Detroit women, will soon make its pitch to three TV networks.
And if the efforts over the next month or so are unsuccessful, then Detroit native Valencia Williams expects at least six episodes of the show - filmed in Metro Detroit over the past 18 months - to be posted on the show's website: MotorCityWivesDetroit.com.
A teaser for the show, profiling all seen women (ages 24-43), is expected to be posted on the website by March 15, and it won't fit the typical mold of wives-related TV reality in other cities, Williams said.
"A spicy teaser with all the ladies, different scenes; just craziness," said Williams, who spent four years in a West Virginia prison for a Detroit banking and counterfeiting scheme. "You will see more of the reality and the vision of the project.
"You will get to see the profoundness of the show; the struggle, the city - everything."
Williams said she's pitching the show to Oprah Winfrey's OWN network, BET and TV One. She's optimistic about the show's network potential because of its realness, grit and drama.
“If we drive up in a hooptie, then we’re whipping up in one," Williams said. "This show will have everything - from the real to the fake."
Williams, who lives on Detroit's west side, said she's one of the seven women featured on the show along with Carey Torrice, a former Macomb County Commissioner, and reality TV show veteran Sara Stokes.
Stokes, from Port Huron, was a cast member of the MTV show "Making the Band" that was created by hip hop mogul Sean "P. Diddy" Combs."
The identities of the four other cast members are expected to be revealed by March 15. Williams is waiting for two "solid commitments" from cast members.
Williams expected the cast to be composed of four African-American women, two Chaldeans and one Caucasian woman.
Williams said she's made an effort to add former Detroit City Council member Monica Conyers, the wife of U.S. Congressman John Conyers, and Kim Mathers, Eminem's ex-wife, to the show's "dream" cast.
But Williams admits it's been a challenge to make that dream come true.
Conyers ended up doing time in the same Alderson, W. Va. prison Williams did. They, however, were there at different times.
"It's been hard," Williams said. "I've been able to get to (Mathers') mom, but not her yet."

There was a rumor about this last year, but no solid evidence that they were trying to get Kim, just one of those "a source said..." BS lines.
