Nas slugged through. Had more impact. The point of a rap diss is to embarrass the other dude, and while it was childish, it worked. Jay-Z may have had some good lines but it's not about being the better song, it's about what left a mark. Ether is remembered more by far.

I think Ether had more facts in it, while in Takeover the line about the hot albums which supposedly "killed" Nas was just an opinion.It Was Written was also a classic, not at the level of Illmatic though but still a classic album.I Am was also a very strong album with some of Nas' best songs.The only weak one is Nastradamus and then came crazy albums like Gods Son & Stillmatic.Jay only had a point about Nas falling off in the rap culture as a whole.I actually like Takeover more as a song, the beat and the flow are crazy but Ether is definetely the better diss.

How does saying, "Gay-Z" and "Cock-A-Fella Records" make Ether the better diss? "Dick suckin lips" LOL, those are insults on the level of what I would say to my friends whenever I'm joking.

The last part of Jay's third verse where he breaks down Nas's terrible career, along with a few shots "went from top 10 to not mentioned at all, to your bodyguard Oochie Wally's verse better than yours," makes Takeover the much better diss.
