And you guys wonder why he trashed Relapse! The whole world abandoned him, even his fans.

Oh they most definitely were. There isn't a doubt about that in my mind at all.

Other rappers came to Eminem's defense though on that list, if nothing else.

Asap is selling a lot with his album and it leaked 1 month earlier.
He is clearly an influence on the east coast for the new generation but they probably didn't want to put him in the top 5 because his album was only released 2 months ago and Future had a lot of hits this year.

Impact, lyrics, sales, buzz, style and the intangibles all factor in to the upcoming 'Hottest MCs in the Game VIII' debate.

I don't keep up with this shit...

I'm assuming that Macklemore will have to make the list, right?

They don't only look at your sales tbh.

Well, I get that they are trying to base it off of impact...but mainstream hip hop is just so fucked up that it's hard to take it seriously.

Oh, I don't want to put forth the wrong idea. It's not to say that there isn't anything worth listening to in mainstream hip hop, but rather that the things that seem to be the most ubiquitous aren't all that great. There are exceptions, but there aren't enough to make a list like this have very many impressive artists on it.

Of course though, Kendrick/TDE and the creativity of artists like that is encouraging. I'm also happy about how well Macklemore did, and I'm sure I haven't heard everything out there that's worth a fuck. Not a fan of ASAP yet though...

Anyway, like I said, my point is that there aren't enough exceptions to the rule of mainstream hip hop being sort of watered down and full of uninspired/unimpressive emcees to make a list of mainstream impact be taken seriously for the most part.

okay,

I am waiting for the day that they actually put MC's.

Kendrick will be in the top 5, it's a given according to their article
Nas has been mentioned by some artists too, same for Jay-z

but I think that Drake and Ross will be in the top 5 too :coffee:

I see what you mean and I definitely agree with you ;)

Btw, did you listen to long love asap ? it was his mixtape and imo, it was better than his album.

Kendrick better win number 1 and influence the upcoming new rappers that you dont need to say money, swag and bitches in every single bar to sell records.

I think he just proves that you don't need to go pop to be successful in 2010/2013 but there will always be rappers talking about cars, money, drugs and bitches =p

listen to these 2 songs from asap guys :(

Asap should have been higher. MGK should be on it too, but he probably won't and that's a damn shame. He had a big year.
