Drake at #5? Damn
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

http://www.xclusiveszone.net/2013/03/au ... game-list/

Yesterday, MTV gave Kanye West the #7 spot on their Hottest MCs In The Game list and everyone was waiting to see Mr. West’s response. Today, he called up Hot 97′s DJ Enuff and gave his thoughts on the list. First he starts by saying he feels Big Sean should have been in the top 5 and that Lil Wayne is #1 to him. Then he speaks on his own position and says he got #7 because of the criticism to the Cruel Summer compilation album. Before hanging up, Kanye talks about Sway and says he gave him his first TV.

Kanye is mad

He loves Wayne.

I hope he was speaking in sarcastic way, otherwise I've lost even more respect for him

he was very serious :n:

Rapper KANYE WEST has praised his hip-hop rival LIL WAYNE - branding the star a "living legend".
The Gold Digger hitmaker is please to be working in the music industry alongside hip hop heavyweight Lil Wayne - and congratulates the rapper for the phenomenal success of his latest LP That Carter III - which has sold over a million copies in the U.S. in the first week of its release.
Lil Wayne's album, the third in a trilogy, is the fastest selling LP in America since 50 Cent's 2005 release The Massacre.
And West, who worked as a producer on the hit record, is proud of his peer's success - writing in his online blog that he his "pleased to know this guy".
He says, "Bow in the presence of a true living legend in hip-hop. Lil Wayne the God."

The day Raekwon sounds like Wayne is the day I quit listening to Eminem.

Nice one Trimss :y:

a lot of rappers were influenced by wayne tbh :
-I realized that Kanye's old songs were influenced by wayne.
-Same for Kendrick because when he was younger and an independent artist, he released a mixtape called "C4", he raps with Lil wayne's voice and flow on more than 10 songs and wayne was even featured on the tape.
- Asap rocky ? lol he sounds like lil wayne, I remember that last week, my mom said to me " ho, I didn't know that song from lil wayne  "
... etc

yeah he became trash but I really think that these guys respect him.
when lil wayne released C2, it was like he was the new god, the hype was huge

I really dont see any Lil Wayne in Kanye I listened to all his albums...maybe someone else does but not me....Kanye is like God compared to Wayne and I am not a Kanye fan.

Kendrick??? Come on....maybe when Kendrick was like 15 than he realized that it is crap and Kendricks last 2 albums are RAP albums and have great material than I can relate too.

Asap Rocky I dont know I have not heard enough of him....

You know who I see a lot of Tupac influence? especially with the story telling...ye Kendrick as well as J. Cole.

Dollar and a Dream huge PAC influence in that song...even how Cole pronounces some words.

And they both said it before.

kdot released his first mixtape at 16 but C4 was released after The Carter 3, he was probably 19/20

btw, I agree with you about j cole and kdot,

Actually, kendrick said that his biggest influences were tupac, Nas but Imo, Andre 3000 is also influencing him because of that "alien" voice

I would say that rappers like hopsin are more influenced by east coast legends or Eminem but at the end of the day, the rappers from the new generation are all unique :o

Yeah, Hopsin is not really conventional and Tyler either as they both admit that Eminem is their biggest influence. And you can see it with Hopsin, because he's one of the only ones who was able to "recreate" Eminem's style but in his own way.

You can notice it because of the beats he makes, too. I like that, and I like the fact that he's not an Eminem wannabe like that Denace guy.

I agree with you because you can see that he is influenced by Eminem but he isn't just another "Eminem".
Hopsin is Hopsin, Kendrick is Kendrick, Tyler is Tyler, MGK is MGK, Badass is Badass, Ab-Soul is Ab-soul, they are influenced by old rappers just like Tupac, Nas and Biggie were influenced by other musicians but they have their own styles, they are unique and creative !

There are a lot of new fresh rappers and imo, this is something new in the rap game !
Look at the previous decade, it was all about Eminem, jay-z, 50, and Kanye and then Wayne became famous and it was pretty boring to see the same guys rapping again and again because the other rappers didn't rly have anything special to become "big" rappers.
This new generation is really bringing a bit of fresh air to the game, these rappers are talented and can be a problem for the veterans tbh.

There were bad rappers in the previous decade, there are still bad rappers today but I rly think that right now, we have a lot of talented artists and it was something that was missing in hip hop a few years ago.

Kendrick is going plat with his album (probably in a few months) which is incredible because it took almost 2 years to kanye to sell 1 200 000 copies of MBDTF. Kendrick can do these numbers if he has a good promotion from Interscope and I'm pretty sure that he'll do even better with his next album because his fan base is bigger than ever !
Macklemore will probably go gold in a few weeks and his fanbase is also bigger than ever.
What about the other rappers ? can they do it ? Of course they can ! :b: :beerchug:

Being influenced by an artist =/= copying that artist

Rapper A (Hopsin) liked a certain style (goofy, funny) that Rapper B (Eminem) did, so Rapper A decided to recreate the style in his own way.

I wouldn't even look at production btw, considering there are millions of beats out there that sound similar. Every beat will sound identical in one way or another, so it's not fair to say Hopsin's/Tyler's beats are influenced by Em's, because there is probably another producer making beats similar to Em's, and he's not influenced by him.
