you don't see anyone with this kinda work ethic nowadays :shakehead:
How can hip-hop be dead if Wu-Tang is forever?

Well, I guess it could be argued that Lil Wayne had a work ethic like that right around the time he started saturating the market with his guest verses and freestyles.

I remember one of the Beatles was annoyed that Paul took three days trying to perfect Maxwell's Silver Hammer, I thought does that mean they work on a song in less than three days?! they do probably a song a day, it's really strange.

Yeah Tech N9ne is a work horse, he drops a lot of music and often. Whether it's solo stuff or features.

No music or art should be rushed, sure you can be quick at making it eg tech but you shouldn't have to rush it. Pac had a collection of AMAZING songs but imo he had an equal amount of shitty songs.

1. Pac was not talking about rushing the lyrics and delivery. He was simply talking about not worrying about the mixing/programming/etc. until the lyrics are finished.

2. If you are a naturally good rapper, especially a great freestylist, it will come naturally and you won't need hours for it to be doctored.

yeah tupac was never a wordsmith.

he was more of a story teller

That's why 60% of his songs are mehh
But he is a legend. Awesome flow!
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

I like how Eminem put it, essentially saying that Tupac wasn't necessarily his favorite emcee, but that he probably was his favorite artist. Tupac's intelligence and charisma showed in his music, and he could have done more had he not been killed. Unfortunately, his attitude after getting shot and going to prison on a bullshit charge was ultimately his downfall.

While Death Row was probably the only label that would have been bold enough to work with him like they did immediately after all of the controversy, he could have grown into something more if he had lived long enough to realize that it was essentially a toxic environment.
