I read Night, it's so true and so emotionally moving. It brought tears to my eyes, and the description of everything was so real that I could picture it, and it just terrified me to think that it is a true story and it actually occured... :zipped: :'(

it can remind you of your childhood for example - emotional aspect. if you read a book and feel it's something you can relate to, it makes you wanna read it once more. same thing when it's funny or about some universal problems, messages or whatever.

you can move to another world, sometimes better, for a short while and forget about all the shit around you.

books extend your knowledge about the world, people, but also your vocabulary and it was proved that reading books make your ortography and spelling better.

books extend your imagination.

wanna know something more?

If you're not going to post something that really relates to the topic, in a sense, then please don't critisize it. I understand, since you made your point, that you think books and reading are a waste of time. However, there are those, like myself, who enjoy sitting down and reading a good novel. And becoming emotionally attached to a book is a very simple thing to grasp. You may be reading a book about a child who was sexually abused, and if you, yourself, were sexually abused as a child, then you may understand what the author is trying to get you to relate to. And like in 'Night', the author was a Jew and went to Concentration Camps during the Holocaust. Ellie describes what it was like, how he lost his father, seeing babies thrown into fire pits, and being starved and shit. And if you've learned about the Holocaust and then read that book, you could become emotionally attached because you can picture and let your imagination soar with what the author is describing. :flower:
