Has Em ever had a mediocre or bad album?

Postby tadpole25 » Mar 16th, '13, 04:39

I actually like all of his albums and found none of them bad, but I do like some more than others.

I'd say the weakest link, IMO, is maybe Encore. I still remember when I was 13 and bought Encore (after listening to his 3 previous albums). I put it in the CD player and first few tracks, I was like what the hell! And I didn't even get to Pee Wee Herman section of the album yet. I did find several tracks in there I did like, and it was one of my most listened to albums when I was 14.

But even then, Encore isn't a bad album. It's actually pretty good. But just not up to par with his others.

I think it's relative though. The bigger you are, the more expectations you have. When you're listed among some of the best, having a good album isn't enough.

i think encore has enough good tracks to avoid being bad. it passes the line of mediocrity, but not by much

Well, I strongly disagree with you but I'm not interested in trying to change your mind so I won't argue. I think it's terrible by any decent standard of rap music.

Here is why no one likes Eminem fans: they cannot admit when Eminem puts out something bad/mediocre.

Encore is bad, atrocious, poor, crappy, crummy, dreadful, garbage, unacceptable, unsatisfactory, and straight-up not good.

I'll always admit when Em puts out crappy material (he's put out of a lot of bad stuff), but I judge albums as a whole. Relapse, Recovery and Encore all have major flaws, however, I think their strengths outweigh them.

To Encore.

The album title/concept, the imagery, production - and a handful of tracks.

I disagree with Geno @ the good outweighing the bad though. I'd say the good (all the album but two tracks) outweighs the bad of Relapse for example... and the lasting feeling is of a solid and unique body of work. But the bad of Encore stinks much fouler... the feeling I walk away with is a mixed, half-ass album of kooky stupidity and yawnworthy self-seriousness. Definitely his least consistent.

I don't know if I'm more surprised if you think Marshall Mathers Lp is mediocre or if you think is just one word....
