Yes we all know about pac, doesnt make him the best rapper out. One of the more influential ones maybe, by no means the best.

Pacs not out though, he past away in 1996 (R.I.P.) and is considered not the best but 1 of the best of all time.

I mean technically. Compare his lyricism with tech or someone.

Define ur meaning of lyricism?

Okay i didnt mean lyricism in that i meant rapping ability.... cant think of a lyricist now other than Em, but Hip hop has certainly changed since Pac, parts of it have got more lyrical. In terms of skill i wouldnt put him at the top, thats for sure. He is high up but thats because of what he is saying and what its about, not because of how he does it.

In my mind it makes sense, cant explain it.

I know you weren't talking to me but I wanted to answer :sweating:

This is not my post but I thought it was well written and I definitely agree with that :

"Technical
Technical, to me, is the structure of the rap and how it sounds. It includes stuff like rhyme scheme, multies, assonance, consonance, alliteration, voice, etc. It’s basically anything that helps the verse sound or flow better. A good technical rapper is someone who can flow well and not be predictable doing it. An example of good technique would be Blu in the song “Cold Hearted”:

I was cold hearted and young, a dumb kid with a gun
Cause fun days don’t last, the last nigga to laugh
So rap fell on my tongue, numb feelings remain
And pain comes and it goes
But my wounds shows the room where my pops beat my moms
Moms screamin' for help, myself hot as a sun
Cold hearted and young, a dumb kid with a gun
That I got from my pops top drawer
When he left my momma twice in a week
My momma lifeless and weak, spendin' her nights in the sheets
With seed killer number (one)
Seed killer number (two)
Seed killer number (three)

This is structured very nicely. The rhyme scheme is varied a lot to keep the listener from getting bored. He also uses assonance pretty effectively here with the repetition of both short and long vowel sounds. For example “…don’t last, the last nigga to laugh”, and “cold hearted and young, a dumb kid with a gun”. In addition to that, he rhymes “lifeless and weak” with “nights in the sheets” which is a pretty good multi. There’s more we can talk about in this verse but I’ll just right there because I think you get the point. Overall, this verse is very good technically and it shows by how well Blu flows.

Lyrical
Lyricism is how the rapper expresses his theme, message, or emotions. Creativity is important in lyricism. Similes, metaphors, entendres, word play, punchlines, etc, all help make a verse more creative or original, but they aren’t totally necessary. You can be lyrical by having original thoughts or ideas, or being deeply introspective. I think lyricism is the more subjective of the two, because people see things differently just based off of their personal experiences or personality. An artist that displays great lyricism, in my opinion, is Common in the song “The Believer”. I explained this example before, so you can just click here and read it if you like."

no he wouldn't and to be quiet honest with ya .. he would have sold out just like snoop did .. 2pac is overrated as fuck and not one of the best to ever do it either .. he is good at best .. sure what he said was influental, emotional and lyrical, but he was by no means one of the best when it comes to lyrics flow and technique .. eminem would destroy him .. yes i said destroy him in every aspect of rap, not even debatable

"My favorite rapper of all time is Pac but I can admit Em can rap better than him.. Grow up"

Not sure how I feel about this...

I totally agree but I'll just mention Pac died very very young... we will never know what kind of a rapper Pac would be if he was still here & kept evolving in the meantime 'cuz pretty much he had all those big albums/songs while he was still a kid. Pretty much Pac died as a legend with tons of records behind him at the age in which EM dropped his first national album. If I have to pick in between Pac & Em's early work before Dre, I'd easily go for Pac. Skills wise overall though go all the way in EM's direction even I we put only TSSLP & TMMLP out there.

Pac was the God of the West Coast while still in his early 20's so it was necessary for Crooked to say ''Grow up'' 'cuz that would definitely make some people out there unhappy.

How in the world is fucking Tech N9ne a better lyricist than Pac?

One just puts a bunch of words together for rhyming sake and the other actually knows what the fuck he's talking about.

Obvious statement is obvious.

You shouldn't really even have to say it. it's completely fine to prefer 2Pac to Eminem but anyone who says he can rap better or thinks he's a better rapper in terms of any technical aspect is clueless.

It's a bit unfair to compare a current rapper with one who died going on 17 years ago.
