Most of the trshady members overuse the "overrated" word when it comes to talk about another artist than Eminem.
It's like nobody has the right to blow up except Em

Eminem is overrated as fuck by you stans.
EDIT: Also, why is it a bad thing that Kendrick doesn't use "complex multi-syllable rhymes"? The music itself is quality art. It takes a lot of creativity and talent to make an album like GKMC.
bigray wrote:Lance5 wrote:bigray wrote:I agree about him leading the newer guys but the rest is clearly opinions. I just had a guy tell me that GCMC is wack like Wayne and the rest of the mainstream... I disagreed with him but what ever thats what he thinks.
Don't know if Jay is that respected... Ur EM comment about MMLP I honestly never heard that.yeah that's all opinions, most people that think kendrick is overrated here has been hating on him since day 1.
Ill use Eedee as an example, I dont think I have ever seen him comment on Kendrick before...we cant really say he has been hating on him since day 1 and im sure those goes for other...sure some people may just plain hate on him or some just feel the need to express it again.Let's be honest bigray, 80 % of the people here hate on every single artist who isn't from Shady Records. (and that's not including you, menzo and aone who always tried to give respectful opinions about kendrick ).
It's just that these guys are jumping on the bandwagon because someone created a thread "kendrick sucked" lol.
You know what Lance it really use to be like that but the past cpl years it is the opposite members hate on anything that has to do with Shady just for the fuck of it.....My opinions will always be the same for most artist....the odd time they will change which is normal and yes some just hop on too hate.hmm from what I can see, illmatic, reasonable doubt, blue print are still very hyped but not really TMMLP.
Agreed about Nas and Jay regarding those albums you mentioned but it is the same for EM people still praise MMLP.wherever I go, I see people from the new generation saying that Eminem used to be good but not great by any means.
Don't make me say what I didn't say, he isn't "as hated" as 50 cent, and I may be wrong but this is really what I can see right now.
Thats is cuz the new generations opinions are terrible not all some are really honest. I agree with you on 50.But really, saying that Kendrick wouldn't be famous back in the days is really a poor argument.
Even Jay-Z wanted to Sign Kendrick to Def Jam when he was a kid, even Lil Wayne wanted to work with him when he was younger... and Kendrick proved that he can stand out even if great or famous artists release an album at the same year.
Maybe he would be famous but I highly dont he would be as praised as he is now, Spotlight back than was always on BIG and PAC....you never know though he could very well get praised just as much as he is now. What about Section 80 released in digital format at the same time as Drake and Lil Wayne's albums ? GKMC was one of the most anticipated albums of this decade because of that album, forums, sites for Download and his own sites crashed several times because of the leaks, it was also one of the most streamed albums...
Kendrick is on his way to do Kanye West's sales numbers with his last solo album
Ill take Kendrick over Wayne and Kanye any day...Kanye and Wayne are not my cup of tea..even though Kanye is original and is successful with his style.in 18 months; Kanye west sold 1 200 000 copies of his albums, in 5 months, Kendrick did 800 000 and he has been doing THE SAME sales numbers every single week since January![]()
Yep GKMC >>>> MBDTFWho the fuck can do that in 2010/2013 ? 50 cent ? he struggled to go gold, Game ? his last album didn't go gold... Only Eminem Lil wayne and Drake can do better.
Hip hop changed lol, what if tmmlp was released in 2010 ? :unsure
Yep I know not many can do that but really sales is only 1 factor, Carter 4 is shit and look how much he sold in the first week...Game has been shit since his second album.
Sorry Lance dont feel like making this perfect but you will see my comments.

Swimming Pools wasn't supposed to be in the album but most of his fans asked him on twitter and facebook to add the song in the album because it sounded "amazing" to them.
I thought his album was an intricate masterpiece of storytelling prowess; wouldn't randomly shoving a track on there for the sake of it ruin this?

I really think though hip hop really needs sub genres now...what I mean is that hip hop is so much different now than the past..in the past was straight raw, lyrical gangsta shit.. u know what I mean and now there are so many different style...I say something is wack the next guy loves it.
Now you have Waka, Gucci, Soldier Lil B etc...these guys rap so different than Kendrick or Lloyd Banks for example...so why not put that style of hip in a different categories instead of them all in rap.
Not sure Lance if you get what I mean...cuz too me those artists above are not rap to me.
Yes I definitely think Kendrick can stay relevant for many years to come.
Hesky wrote:If someone dropped something like that in the creative writing section, they'd be pitied on.
bigray wrote:Yeah he is the based God dude who just says what is on his mind.
Lil Wayne and Kanye 100% had a HUGE impact on hip hop especially Wayne the dude carried it on his back for a good cpl years even though I dont like his music...I cant deny that, I would be lying and hating otherwise....everyone has or had a Young Money shirt.
I think it was T Pain who introduced auto tune and apparently Jay killed it on DOA. But autotune has been done with other Genres.. Cher is the Queen for auto tune and she sounds really good.
I prefer Ronz Brownz auto tune over T Pains.
bigray wrote:Exactly my thoughts. That's why I think that nobody is overrated, Drake, Eminem, Wayne, (Rick Ross), etc, IMO no one of them was or is overrated because they had an impact and it has everything to do with personal opinions.
Overrated and underrated are words that are abused by some but at the same time they still have a meaning when used properly...like if someone says "Drake is lyrical or an amazing rapper look at his sales" or even Wayne for instance... yes that is a definition of someone overrating and artist but the word is rarely used properly here....An underrated artist to me is Jon Connor...he is very lyrical, great delivery/voice and he had only 3 mixtapes, yet no one talks about him.You don't like Lil wayne's music, other don't like Eminem, I don't like Biggie at all (but still think his album was a master piece but I still don't feel it) but they are what they are.
They were all praised as kings in different moment of "the history" , they were all loved by their fans and there are a lot of people who still don't agree that.
But Big and Pac are known as legends and will always be...look at Bigs funeral the whole street in NY celebrated his life that day...Ya some people may say Wayne is or was the King of hip hop but that cant be true...popular yes. What is overrated by one isn't overrated by everybody, when Eminem dropped his first albums, hell yes he sold a lot of copies but a lot of Nas and Jay's fans were like " oh, the dude is overrated, he is wack"
That's exactly why I think this word doesn't make any sense at all...it's ALWAYS used when an artist blow up.
Success most of the time comes with hate, I will be honest in the 90's Jay wasnt as praised as he is now....he was hardly noticed due to the fact that at that time they're were so many others killing it like Pac, Big, Mobb Deep, Nas, NORE, Big Pun etcHip hop changed just like a lot of culture are changing but imo, the biggest difference between the 90's, the 2000's and now is Internet, people can share their opinions easily and that's why Eminem, Wayne, drake, ross, Tupac, Nas and Biggie all have a lot of haters
The same happened to Lupe fiasco, the same happened to MBDTF and the same happens to Kendrick right now
Yes for the internet helped hip hop and changed it as well....I personally Hate Ross and Drake equally. Look at Ross's lyrics they are pretty bad and influence the youth. Compare Nas or Pacs lyrics to some of the newer guys (Kendrick not included cuz he has substance) those guys always had a good and positive story to tell...they never encouraged selling drugs or disrespecting females or how much money they got or dont.
I know we can keep discussing this on and on but we are pretty much on the same side really just expressing out opinions a little different.
bigray wrote:They could have either just dropped brutal albums or dope ones...it sucks that we will never know.
To me Pac has 2 classic and Big has 1.
All Eyes on Me
Makaveli
Ready to Die
I HATE how Pacs music has been released now all messed up and not the way he intended it.
bigray wrote:Yep NAS would be like WTF![]()
Ya 50 did but never executed like PAC....I guess 50 was trying to be relevant or he thinks he is Pac cuz he got shot 9 times and Pac got shot 5....
One day I tried to count how many times Pac says "I got shot 5 times" I think he said it like 100 times in his career lol
