I'm 99% sure he said he wrote the SSLP sober but recorded it on ecstasy.

Yeah he wrote most of it sober but there is no telling where he got the concepts for songs, lyrics, rhymes etc. He "stacks ammo" so to speak so there really is no way to definitively say there were no drugs involved in the writing process. The album is obviously influenced by drugs, the album art has a giant Vicodin pill with a face...
