Did Skylar Grey write Love The Way You Lie chorus?

Postby JAGODA » Mar 29th, '13, 00:53

Skylar did re-tweet this:

"Hanging with singer/songwriter @SkylarGrey - she wrote Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie" & has her own single out now! pic.twitter.com/Of3ZIx06FF"

https://twitter.com/Cosmopolitan/status ... 8641186816

And she's also written in writer(s) list for Recovery, I mean this from Wikipedia:

15. "Love the Way You Lie" (featuring Rihanna) - Writer(s): Mathers, Alexander Grant, Holly Hafermann

Holly Hafermann is Skylar Grey.

What do you think of this?

Haven't you heard her version?
If you ask if she wrote EM's part, of course she didn't! I mean you probably know that but I just couldn't figure out what exactly you were asking.

Yeah, I meant chorus.

And yea, I've heard her version but I didn't get why she did it but now it makes sense. :D

imo Em fucked skyler over by not keeping her for this track. I get why he got rihanna but tbh I think the song would be respected more if skyler was on it. Would have helped her career a fair bit. Not to mention it would sound better.....

He fought to keep her in INAD, which might have been bigger than LTWYL if Rihanna hadn't been on it (although that's unlikely).

EM & RIhanna gave Skylar a career doing this. Unfortunately at the time Skylar had the song, she was nowhere near to match Em's status, esp. if we talk about a video single so they just bought her song. That's why in the past when EM's had that kinda artists featured on his songs, they never even gave them credits on the tracklists... Dina & Liz in that matter.
I've said it before, when EM has feats on his albums they look for a little bit more exposure that more or less would add to his own status 'cuz most of the time artists just take that away from him been featured on his albums. Rihanna was by any means the best choice they could do, period.

Basically what happened was totally normal... Skylar was like a C or even a D artist who gave her song to not one but two major A artists which worked incredibly good for them but gave her a deal & a career too. Your point would be totally valid if she was an established artist by the time that happened though. On another note I do agree Skylar's version was really powerful but Rihanna did her part on EM's version really well too.

Say what you will about Rihanna but she made the song a bigger hit. It worked as well as it did because it was at the height of the Chris Brown situation and she has a style and presence that people are attracted to even if they don't like her singing. Mostly all of her singles and features sell very well. I think she's about to break the 1 singles record if she hasn't already.

If it was Skylar it would have been just another Em whining about relationships song with some barely known moody singer.

^ I agree. And he kinda feels in debt with her. That's why we keep having great collaborations between them. Think about Numb...

LTWYL wouldn't be the big hit it was without Rihanna on it. Space Bound is a great song, kinda similar. And didn't have the same success.

Exactly! That's why they didn't even give credits for the hook of Space Bound like it doesn't feature another artist. This is the big difference... if whoever established artists sang on it, they'd give credits & it'd help the song on the radio.
