I have one tattoo on my inner left forearm and plan on getting two more in the coming months (small one on my wrist and lyrics on my right shoulder blade)
With my arm, it was impossible not to get it wet... you need to use your arms in the shower lol. I just made sure to not use it when I didn't have to and dab it dry, instead of rubbing it. Also.. they're REALLY fucking itchy when they're healing. I used to put a sheet or something thin over it and lightly tap at it. Seriously though, it feels like a million ants crawling all over the tattoo. Oh, and use a nice scent free moisturizer on it. I used Aveeno's Active Naturals Daily Moisturizing Lotion and had no problems at all. It's also a really nice feeling cream, makes that part feel "wet" instead of oily/greasy.
I'm like you where I'm getting my lyrics on my shoulder, I don't want much touching it. I plan on doing mine over my vacation, staying inside/under shade and wearing tops/dresses that allow my back to be bare. Strapless will be my best friend.
Anndddd (lol sorry for the novel) I only kept my wrap on it for 12 hours. If you get an artist that likes to wrap tattoos in plastic wrap, see if they have a pad instead because it lets the tattoo breathe while it's covered for those first few hours. The pad my artist used on me was basically what catches the blood in packages of meat from the grocery store.
