Well... I've indulged in my fair-share of darkness and reckless drug-use... I know where he's coming from, I can see it; and by that, I mean I understand his disposition, his feelings towards drugs, his sense of hopelessness, lack of care... I hope he gets out of it...
I agree with him, it is an everyday struggle not to use, or lose your mind.
I've never done crack though, so I think that drug in particular has affected him badly; I know a guy back in the UK who would do crack and he seems similar to DMX in a way... just like, rambling and lost. I think crack may really fuck up your psychology, especially if you're pre-disposed to certain ways...
That woman seems like a bit of an idiot though. She may have rebuilt her life, but she doesn't seem to have the knowledge or experience to be giving advice to someone like DMX. Nobody can comment, disapprove of or help drug issues, if they have never been there themselves. An addict... it's a certain kind of person, and she isn't it ; but her absolutist statements and assumption of total free-will and a few other things just shows me she's a bit of an idiot.
She's judgmental, arrogant and thinks she has it all figured out. She really doesn't.
And her theory on his ex-wife, 'you married your father'... oh please lmao. Could she get anymore cliche; just because you could in-theory make a comparison doesn't make that a reality, she's an armchair, magazine therapist, but it's dangerous for someone as ill-informed and assumptive as her to be giving such definitive statements to such lost people as facts.
Freud's ideas were largely disregarded a long-time ago and nobody who's seriously informed or knows anything in this area takes the ideas seriously now, EXCEPT for ''TV therapists' and your average person... it's a really blind assumption that's been disproven... trying to make all these connections to parents and parent behaviour all the time. All the science points in much different directions, yet people like this sling around these age-old ideas like they're fact. It's very easy to make a behavioural connection that looks similar and assume a whole world of... fairytale. SIlly woman.
She also contradicts herself to high-heaven... she tells his son not to be judgemental and that addiction is a disease (lmao. I'm an addict - comparing it to cancer is absurd.) and yet she's judgmental as fuck and talks to DMX like he should be able to snap out of it and disapproves of everything he's done. This woman shouldn't be 'helping' people.
