I wouldn't say that Macklemore is better than Eminem, but they make completely different styles of hip hop. It doesn't make sense to compare them at all, but their race automatically seems to put them in the same category for people.

The only reason why the mainstream population is now comparing Macklemore to Eminem is because he is the biggest white rapper to be introduced to the mainstream since Eminem. He's had a huge #1 single, and he's a white rapper, that almost automatically makes the younger white kids have a new role model in hip hop. For them, it doesn't matter that they have two different styles and concepts of rapping, they're both white so its necessary for them to compare the two.

It probably doesn't matter since Em is coming back this year to re-new his shine to the mainstream, Macklemore will become irrelevant.
