It's certainly not Relapse. Bar "Beautiful" and "Crack a Bottle", Relapse is amazing.
So yeah, pretty predictably - I'd say Encore.
I thought both Beautiful and Crack a Bottle fit into Relapse perfectly. If he was doing what I thought he was doing. And yeah. Encore. It was probably the most disappointing album I've ever heard.
Except they didn't.
Neither was made for the album, and it's painfully obvious. Neither fit stylistically.
"Crack a Bottle" was made for 50's, and "Beautiful" was made for King Mathers, hence why it sounds like 05-7 material, and nothing like Relapse material, since it wasn't made for it. But rather put on the album as a safety net single since they had nothing else to run with.
If you're going to say that it fits conceptually as it's after "Deja Vu", I've heard that and once again I'll say it's not the concept, or the lyrics, it's the STYLE, the music and rap style.
I think it's very obvious that the 'real Relapse' ends @ "Deja Vu"... as he goes 'through the Relapse', then he collapses and wakes up and reflects on what happened... the track even fades out as if it's the last track. Then you have three unecessary tracks tacked on the end:
"Beautiful" and "Crack a Bottle" as they were singles, and then he ends with "Underground" probably so that it didn't end on a bizarre single aka the reason he goes so hard on "Underground" and probably why there's no accent, as it was recorded last, separate to the main batch.
Relapse is fucking perfect if it ends at "Deja Vu" and fades out... would have been one of my favourite Em albums period.
