And I always took the "Relapse CD was 'eh'" part as him making a joke of Canadian accents then going on to say the accents were ran into the ground. Lol.

I really like Not Afraid, but I like pretty much all of Recovery. I fully understand where people are coming from about the corniness though. You're Never Over is a guilty pleasure of mine too, great rhyme schemes imo but the production sucks on it.

Whilst playing music with friends though I have found myself being too embarrassed to play most recovery songs but relaxed to play Relapse. Even though when I played 'Old Times Sake' in a mates car the other day when Em came on it occurred to me that with the accent it probably sounds really bizarre to someone who hasn't heard much of Relapse.

The food choice of "spaghetti" might sound a tad unnatural, but you can tell why he used this particular set of words...Jimmy's mother feeds him. It doesn't take you out of the song or mood.

There are a whole bunch of lines on Not Afraid which take you out of the uplifting, inspirational mood he is trying to create. When you hear "quit playing with the scissors and shit, and cut the crap" over that kind of soaring, grandiose instrumental, you can't take it seriously.

No, I was just saying that impying it'd be something people in present time would try to pick apart and call it corny, complain about it being a food reference or it doesnt make sense, etc. I have no problem with the line itself nor with Lose Yourself.

Not Afraid was dumbed watered down 1st single aimed at the masses and it worked,very well.
I still liked the song though,only problem i had with it was the way too high pitched bridge in it.

Have not listen to Recovery for a very long time now,i hate all the sampling and him not doing his own hooks.Half the albums choruses was sampled or had features,that was disappointing cos EM can do so good hooks if he wants too.
His new album better not have as many outside hooks.Hope he does atleast 90% of them himself.

It's defintley my fave lead single from him as far as solo albums. Still a song i bump heavily 3 years on just a really good song. Had everything covered in this song perfectley great lyrics, great chorus, great message, great delivery. The beat was bangin too. It's 1 of the most powerful hooks you will ever hear. 10/10 imo loved it from the first time i heard it.

Once again. "Quit playing with the scissors and shit and cut the crap". Great lyrical content? No. Catchy chorus? Yeah. But it's NOT good technically wise AT ALL.
