The song as a whole in general the verses, the chorus, the delivery and overall passion he put in the song are what makes it inspiring. Especially for people who been thru issues in life.

I feel what you're saying. The message may be great (and it is) but the song itself is just too corny. I don't like using the word corny since it seems so hard to define but that's all I think of when I hear this song. It's such a big song but he fucks it up so easily with shit puns. It's like Cole on Dollar and a Dream III, it was such a big song but he says: "I let you feel like you the shit, but boy you can't out-fart me".

It just fucks up the balance of things. The intense serious message Em is trying to send on Not Afraid is shattered the second he says "Ok quit playin' with the scissors and shit, and cut the crap". Not that it's a bad punch or anything, but it doesn't fit the song at all.
