Em is one of the safest/least controversial rappers now

Postby Kathy » May 17th, '13, 03:08

It's funny, but nothing he does is controversial anymore. Sure, he says "mean things" like the Jon Benet line, but people don't react to it anymore. They've realized it's his shtick. The only remotely controversial thing he's done since his comeback is The Warning, because that was actually personal and had bad intentions.

Almost every other big rapper stirs up more controversy now. Wayne/Emmit Till, Jay-Z/Cuba, Kanye/throwing hissy fits and walking into signs, Macklemore/making the gay love song, it's crazy. And Em is completely safe too, I couldn't picture him ever getting mad at paparazzi or getting in a fight now. He's basically just a stay at home dad who writes rap records. He isn't edgy at all.

He's a 40 year old man, he shouldn't be causing controversy.

tbh the thing is, people are used to it now. But the lines he says on average? I can't think of a rapper that has as many straight up mean things to say as he does. That Casey Anthony line? LTWYL was pretty controversial just in it's whole idea. And what he said about Lady Gaga, someone he shares a record label with--Just to name a few off the top of my head.

I think that as we go forward society has become more accepting of subject matter like that too. It's not just Em that's changed, everyone has. Nothing he says on SSLP or MMLP comes off as overly offensive to me.

Well, the Columbine line on I'm Back is pretty crazy. But that was censored so

No.

Just because people are used to him doesn't mean he's not trying to be controversial lol... failing maybe? Sure...

Also, "Love the Way You Lie" was controversial. Putting Rihanna on that hook, making that move in that context was brilliant, AND the way he raps on it and in general is still controversial. Nobody else raps like that, nobody is as openly blunt or daring; everybody else is safe, laid back, being 'cool', he's still unafraid to look the asshole.

I truly do think the chit-chat section is invisible on her computer.

But anyway, what did you expect?

1.He's 40...not 27
2. He's said it all no one is shocked by his words

"I pee on Rihanna see I do what I wanna"

That line basicly sums it up. He can say whatever he wants these days. People doesnt get offended by him lashing out on them, they think its a privilige lol.
