The lyric is actually

You try it'll be them doors, on Dre's Phantom, believe me clowns

Not that it changes anything about what you're saying overall, I just thought I'd point that out. The line might not make sense to people if they don't know the word is "Phantom" (Rolls Royce, with suicide doors).

But yeah...the songs is a little on the weak side. I think he originally was over-thinking his tribute songs (pure speculation on my part) and maybe wasn't happy with the sad ones either. So he might have decided to just throw something out there and try not to critique it at all. Either way, it doesn't exactly live up to his standards, regardless of how questionable they might be to some since his comeback.

I like the song, but it's constructed in an odd way.
"America...just a nation of two hundred million used car salesmen with all the money we need to buy guns and no qualms about killing anybody else in the world who tries to make us uncomfortable" — Hunter S. Thompson

"Poison the well, your enemies are thirsty!" — Modest Mouse

It kind of reminds me of the majority of the first verse of My Darling. He kind of talks about nothing until mentioning the 'demon' in the mirror at the end.

Anyway...yeah, I trusted sober-Eminem enough to give him the benefit of a doubt on this one when it came out, figuring the horrible pop beat, singing, and corny "metaphors" that Eminem seemed to be aware of were all done intentionally.

But having seen how indefensibly bizarre his verses have been in the last few years, I no longer have quite that same view of it. The positive aspect of it is clearly intentional, but I think he just figured "off of this course, blow me/all for the sport only/talkin awards homie" were really dope simply because they're multis, never mind how forced they are.

The only good thing about the song is the 2nd verse.
The beat is trash, the first verse is average and the hook is just.. :facepalm

Yeah it starts off great... but the majority of the first verse is stupid as fuck.

It's almost like with "Mosh"... you can tell he just went off-course randomly for a while until he got back on, but he should have went back to rewrite it so it was all relevant.

The second verse is great. If only this one matched up.

I used to like this verse more than the second just bc of the multis... I thought they were pretty impressive. However, just like with almost all of recovery, I have downgraded this verse. Like you pointed out, he really doesn't say a whole lot

Yeah this song is a cornfest. So many highly questionable lines, makes me wonder what in the world was En think when writing this. Forced rhyming aswell, but the second verse is alright.

It's sad man because this song is a tribute to Proof and stuff but I can't stand it. I hate the hook and the beat so much it just makes it unlistenable to me.

Only song on Recovery besides WBD that I really hate.
Fuck top five, bitch, I'm top four
And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?

He just sang something that made him happy.

He's admitted he can't sing. He knows.

It was for his best friend, so whatever lol.

Well that doesn't make it any better. I don't care to know if it's for his best friend or not, the result is the same.

It sounds reaaaaaally cheesy and bad. I cringe when I hear it.

I can go through the hook without any problems. Sure, it's not the best hook, but people are fucking overexaggerating.

Agree with the first verse being lotta bullshit, except the first few lines.
I love 2nd verse though.

It feels abit like Em said "this is perfect" on first listen and then said "put it last on the album" without any revisal or any backtracks. I'm pretty sure he could have built up the first verse plenty better than what he did.
