We all consider MMLP to be a classic but I specifically remember reading a review of it and a critic saying that "he proved he still has nothing important to say" and basically bashing his "fuck you" attitude. To me, this proves that no matter how good (or classic) this album will be, people will say it sucks and that it didn't live up to the first one. Literally no matter what. Some people will say it sucks. No offense to you guys, but even when I listen to a new song like Berzerk or Survival, I listen to it many times before reading your opinions. I almost always end up liking a song more when I don't accept outside opinions/criticisms.

This, exactly.

The song is #1 on iTunes and the star ratings are really good for it, most of the reviews are positive.

He bashed Vanilla Ice on MMLP, maybe he thinks he needs another corny white emcee to pick on for MMLP2

Lmao @ questioning his relevancy by his references again, ridiculous.

It's about wordplay and how it sounds with him, not how 'new' the name is.

Is he also super dated because he said Di Vinci? I mean... Di Vinci is So 1430's girl! :facepalm

Also:

"unsurprisingly, like an aggressive Beastie Boys record.”

'Unsurprisingly' :confusion: ... I'm pretty surprised tbh... no other Em single sounds like a Beasties homage... not like it's 'the thing to do now' lmao. Odd comment.

Anyway, personally I'd give it a 7/10. Decent song, which grows on you and has some interesting elements but also some disappointing ones for such an apparently monumental album.

I guess they are saying it's not surprising because of Rick Rubin, still tho it's still certainly not expected for Em to drop a song like this so yeah, odd comment.

:: Finally, Zap2it ponders the following: “The song is littered with references that aren’t exactly considered cutting edge, from Ren & Stimpy to Kevin Federline, so one might ask if the rapper (real name Marshall Mathers) is still relevant.”

When someone talks about whether or not something is "relevant," you know the person talking isn't relevant.

I'm really glad that the reviews are positive. Though honestly I could give less than a shit about what the critics or anyone else truly thinks. I love this song, I'm not forcing myself to, I loved it on first listen. The lyrics are funny and ironic and honestly, this is Eminem being and sounding like Eminem again.

I agree, I think we're in for a classic album.

And I was very far from thinking that before I saw the VMA's.
