I think that, considering only the singles, this one will have SFTMoment as the most comparable one

Postby whore to a chainsaw » Aug 30th, '13, 05:21

I can't stress enough how important the second single is going to be when it comes to the overall success of the album... not just the album... but his entire essence throughout the multi-month Eminem craze that will occur alongside the album.

The next single WILL seal the deal when contemplating whether or not this album will be a success. By success, in this particular context... I mean more than what would constitute success for your average artist. I don't feel as if I have to explain this to you guys. You all know that the album might technically be a success when it comes to the commercial shit... generating money... but what success means for people that appreciate what Eminem offers the world to the degree that we do (people that would visit a site like this, join it and then post on it) is whether or not the new stuff delivers that one indescribable feeling we all can't explain with the words our language limits us to...

Do you guys know what I'm talking about?

Somewhere in all of our subconscious minds... a pleasing scenario exists. We have thought about it before but due to the harsh truths of reality and our ability to recognize that it is very, VERY unlikely for someone to possess the ability to manipulate these truths and defy what we deem as possible through our own perception & comprehension of things... due to our awareness of this truth even while we don't consciously take note of it all so much... we are left in suspense. Wondering if it could actually happen...

We attach our egos to Eminem's career and when his music plays... it is a representation of ourselves in a way. In some way that we have taken in each song. It doesn't matter if he's talking about something we can relate with or not... lyrically, anyways. That's a treat.

What we're looking for is that feeling of pure awe. To watch him do it. To witness, even if just through a song from the internet someone being successful at meeting a bar set SO FUCKING HIGH... so we can listen to it later and use his music as a way of comprehending something truly awesome... played out through someone's career in music. We are amazed by the man himself because of what his career in rap says about human potential... None of you (or me) can read that and think ''I've never decided that I listen to him because of that... I just like hearing Eminem and want to see him completely dominate.''

The guy is on another level and it's fascinating. Think about it... How much do you actually give a shit about the emotions that the music alongside the lyrics in his songs make you feel on their own? When you await MMLP2... how many of you are thinking ''Damn the beats had better be better than on relapse/recovery!'' No one! Only if it's in the context in which we are discussing how effective his lyrics are when the beat is good. No one really gives a fuck about the subject matter either. When there is interesting subject matter... its a treat. He can deliver it better than most... but even when he doesn't... with Eminem it doesn't matter. Watching him rap.. watching him say something that means nothing as long as it is a sick manipulation of the english language expressed in an emotion provoking manner... through the perfect voice to nail concepts in your head... with a master of manipulating this voice for the best BEHIND the voice...

I dunno... I'm all over the place. I'm quite scatter brained tonight but amongst all of that writing, I promise there are good points.

OK... so what I was getting at... there is a level of perfection that we have never witnessed in any other human being (regardless of what their profession is) that is actually awe-inspiring. Eminem is fucking legendary. The odds of him happening to occur... from the entropy that this universe has to offer us... Eminem TRULY IS SOMETHING INCREDIBLE and we can't find anyone else that compares. Not just in rap. In anything.

If you took every person that was good at something... even the best of the best at every single art that has ever existed... the best at any single action that could be performed by anyone... the most impressive would be Eminem being the best at rapping.

We all subconsciously know this. There is no reference point that our minds can use to compare his awe-inspiring talent to the extreme talents of other people at other things... so most of you don't know it consciously... but subconsciously (and now maybe consciously) you are aware of the fact that the only person who MIGHT be able to impress you to the point of awe at ANYTHING is Eminem.

Each announcement of a new album sparks some deep inner joy in major Eminem fans. We wonder ''Is this it?''

We know it is almost LITERALLY impossible for it to happen. We know there is pretty much no way he can do it... but now we know that HE is crazy enough to risk his legacy to attempt it. To attempt to give us what we have been looking for since 2003. We have been waiting to hear something and feel a sense of depersonalization due to the excitement we feel as our minds are blown. As we see a man succeeding at this level... imagining how it must feel to exhibit such awesomeness + whatever message he wants to EVERYONE.

There is nothing more awe inspiring than Eminem's career if you are a big enough fan to know all about it. All about what he's done.

We all know that IF he can surpass relapse and recovery... we are witnessing a marvel. We feel familiar with him too because of all of the times in our lives in which his voice meant something... or corresponded with a memory of something... holy shit. When he does awesome... we somehow psychologically attach the feelings we assume he feels when expressing himself in such an awesome way to everyone to our OWN imaginations.

What we have been waiting for is to witness him being incredible. If he writes an album and it sucks... our lives aren't any worse. We want it to be awesome though... Why? Because we know if it isn't... we might never get that feeling we are looking for again.

Relapse and recovery didn't do it. They were amazing albums. They're fucking awesome... but still, a disappointment. At no fault of Eminem... because there's no way he could go MMLP at this age... but it's still disappointing.

The guy doesn't need money... his whole life is earning respect for rap. He HAS to be the best. A plaque at platinum status is wack if hes not THE baddest.

MMLP2 is quite possibly the only thing that can please our desire for the rush of awe that only Eminem can deliver us 2-3 times per lifetime. We have wanted one more since 2003... but it's never quite close enough.

Eminem has no other possible motives for doing what he's doing unless it's to risk the legacy of his ENTIRE CAREER for the sake of setting the bar even higher before he goes. If this CD sucks... MMLP will never be discussed without someone mentioning the mediocre sequel and how unfortunate that is.

He is risking everything to deliver that indescribable feeling to his fans.

And we all know he might actually be able to do it.

This time is critical in a major Eminem fan's mind.

Single #2 is going to excite us... he knows it has to. It's going to be something classic. He HAS to prove that he's capable of ''The way I am'' and 'Stan' quality singles with this album name. He will make sure to put out something incredible.

It could flop too. It could completely miss and his entire legacy is fucked.

''Eminem... the greatest rapper of all time until his skill objectively decreased in 2013 with The Marshall Mathers LP 2... which was a sequel to the famous... blah blah blah... unfortunately could not live up to blah blah blah.

This can and will happen if his next single isn't on a level that can at LEAST be COMPARED to songs on the level of stan or the way I am... the singles from MMLP after the wacky one.

If he has an awesome second single but it's not even on the same page as stan or the way I am... (like say... almost famous, my dads gone crazy, deja vu, square dance... songs that are AMAZING but still not comparable to the way I am or stan) then he will let down millions with the best music hes made in half a decade. :facepalm

I hope he can do this... Im glad hes trying. Im just worried. Like most of you... if Em completely fails... a big unexplainable part of my psyche will transcend past neutral from positive to negative.

A big part of my life... day-dreams... it will represent disappointment.

The quality of this album and whether or not he delivers what we REALLY need to feel as if its acceptable directly corresponds with several psychological processes in the minds of huge fans like us... that CARE about the music big time... and the reason we feel so anxious in regards to what the CD will be like is a mix of excitement and fear... because it could quite literally either pump us up for months... be protracted for years... or it could quite literally spark a vicious cycle of anhedonia.

sorry for the book. maybe I should be J. K. Rowling when I grow up... then I could afford all sorts of those neat looking kinds of cheese you see at delis but are like 40 bucks for a little chunk... I would buy all sorts of that shit.

I would open an upstairs window and yell at pedestrians as they walked by... I'd be all like ''Look at THIS you motherfucking individuals! Look how much CHEESE I have you fucking bitches! Switzerland aint got shit on my pad!''

Holy shit I just realized what Eminem is planning on doing with this album...

Adele featured on a serious song has the potential to be incredible. But yeah, definitely something more lyrical for the second single.

You know, doesn't have to be tbh .. Both Stan and 97 bonnie and clyde were not that good lyrically .. obviously, the lyrics weren't bad, but nothing special either.

I'm sure the implication behind what you posted is witty... over my head as I'm ignorant to the message such a gif is supposed to convey... but I don't know what you are trying to express.

Obviously your opinion of my post corresponds with it somehow... But I just don't see how my post is related in any way to Homer Simpson dancing around with his fingers in his mouth while Lisa blows CO into the top of an empty moonshine bottle...

What emotion does Homer Simpson dancing around with his fingers in his mouth while Lisa blows CO into the top of an empty moonshine bottle represent?

Is this a trend amongst TRShady members that I have yet to become familiar with?

Is that animated picture something that you guys commonly post in response to posts that you think were written by prodigies?

TELL ME WHAT THIS MEANS. I SWEAR TO GOD IF YOU DONT TELL ME WHAT THIS MEANS I WILL FINGER SOME PROFANE SHIT. I SPENT A LOT OF TIME ON THAT POST AND YOU GUYS HAD BETTER LIKE IT. THE HOMER SIMPSON DANCE THING HAD BETTER MEAN SOMETHING GOOD.

I don't wanna insult you but I didn't read the first post nor did I read that second post in it's entirety.. Your thoughts and opinions are probably all good and I respect them but I really don't want to read them since it's 7am where I live now .. don't wanna be a dickhead so I'm gonna explain the homer gif.. It basically is my reaction right now .. should I read that or watch Sasha Grey in "Malice in Lalaland".. but you know what .. I think that gif didn't fit that good tho .. this one is better ...

.. so .. until then ..

no but seriously tho .. gonna read it tomorrow since you obviously took your time to write an essay..

I read all of your first post and I think your passion and inner-Stan is just awesome, but you must be high or on something right now hahahaha.

Anyways, I do think there's an amazing amount of pressure on Em and the second single is important, but not quite make or break in my opinion. I think Eminem has met expectations if he does similar to what Christopher Nolan did with TDKR following up The Dark Knight. It doesn't have to be perfect or as good as its predecessor (up for debate), but deliver in a big way.
KNOCK MADNESS - OUT NOW
Jimmy Conway, on someone placing a bid on Eminem's old home wrote:Koolo will probably buy it and have an orgy with all the studio leak worshipers in it and then burn it down because not enough people answered his "Do you like me buying this house" poll.
