Infinite

Postby Jimmy Conway » Sep 2nd, '13, 09:27

I first heard this album in 2000 I think, maybe 2001. I seen it and the slim shady ep on ebay. I had my Uncle by them for me and mail them to me( he lives a few hours away). I remember getting these cds, two rare cds that most people didn't hear about. But they were burned. I never bothered to ask, but I just assume my uncle burned me the albums and never even bothered with Ebay. I didn't really like it. I've tried over the years and while I do like it a little more now, I don't love it. I think if it was produced better, I don't mean the beats, I just mean the equipment they used, I think I would have enjoyed it better.

I haven't listened to it in a long time, going to try it again tonight, see what I think.

Discuss this album everyone shits on. I'll be back with my opinion after I listen to it. The song Infinite is a classic, everything else is meh. We will see if that stance changes after a listen.

And try to rate it fairly. If you like it, that doesn't make it a ten, if you don't like it, that doesn't make it a 1

6/10. It's a good album, with some great songs like Infinite and It's OK. And Em's rhyming there is insane. It's a great attempt and a nice debut album.

i score it a 3/5

infinite has a nice old school vibe, but Em's own assessment of it was right. It took time for Em to build his own identity, so with this album it felt like he was just trying to immitate other rappers.

that, and the album had a lot of lyrical spiritual miracles subliminal swimming pools

Well I listened to most of it.

My biggest problem with it is lack of variety. Em had good rhymes, Porter had good beats. But the songs just sounded too simular. Em had that Az+Nas+Vanilla Ice+Kid N Play flow on every verse, porter had that same sound on every song.

But when you think about it, there is only like 30 minutes of music on the album, Em said it was basically a Demo that got pressed.

I give it a 5 out of ten.

The production and voice kind of ruin it for me. It's nicely written though as far as rhymes go. If he re-recorded infinite and its okay, I'd be psyched, especially if Dre made new beats.

I rate it 7/10. The songs does sound a little bit too similar, but that's not such a bad thing when the sound is good. And the bad quality adds some char to it. The main problem is that he fails to express his emotions, no matter what he raps about his voice stays the same, always so desperate and harmless. The energy, anger, spite, the don't give a fuck attitude from his following albums is missing. I think that's why a lot of people don't like it, because he's basically another person on it, only the name Eminem is the same...

8/10. Only lack is the production, but he was poor as hell when he made it, so what'd you want???

His lyricism and wordplay is top notch. I actually rate it pretty high up there.
