What caused him to go to TES to Encore (GOAT)?

The difference in quality is staggering, yes you still have great songs on Encore but the absolute trash and long ass beats (Crazy in Love), its just a huge switch.

People say drugs but eminem was on drugs for TSSLP, MMLP and TES and proof didnt die until wayyy after.

So what caused him to plummet so far that he released his worst album ever, Encore (GOAT) and then go on a long ass hiatus, put on 500 pounds then begin a new phase where the old em is gone and buried.

Pressure of fame etc etc

But i still cant see why ENCORE was such a shit album when he was already used to fame and still managed to make two of the best rap albums in history

"people say drugs"...there's a difference between taking ecstasy at a party, smoking weed, drinking a 40, and taking shrooms, and writing sober, maybe recording while a little buzzed, vs. taking a handful of Valium, writing, swallowing a bottle of NyQuil, recording, then polishing off a couple more Vicodin, going to sleep, then repeating the cycle.

If you didn't know why he started doing that, it was because of 8 Mile's hectic schedule, which he said at least 50 times from 2009-2010 and a couple of times afterwards. It wasn't the pressures of fame that did that to him, the pressures of fame have done nothing to him except make him a little uncomfortable and learn how to run fast enough to get out of the way of the paparazzi (anyone remember that video, where he jumped out of the car and sprinted into the hotel? It was fucking awesome).

So all in all, I feel bad for your parents, I hope you haven't wasted too much of their money in college funds and whatever, because it's clear you're not going.

We already talked about that one milion times, and every Em fan knows.
He started to have a serious problem with sleep medications after 8 Mile, then some of the best songs that were supposed to be on Encore leaked (We As Americans, Love You More and probably Bully was going to be there too), he needed to replace them and he made the bad songs we all know about, which are Big Weenie, My First Single, Ass Like That and Rain Man (I like this last one though) to replace them. Those songs were bad because he got used to get high off pills in the studio so he got into this kind of "always happy" mood which lead to these songs.
Without the leaks and Em's drug problem Encore would've been a really good album. I'm not saying it would've been on The Eminem Show's level, but it would've been really good.
The good song on the record are high quality because they were made in 2003, when Em was still on top of his game. That's the same period of time when D12 World was made too.
And to answer the last question: Em wasn't on drugs for The Slim Shady LP and The Marshall Mathers LP. He used them, and they probably helped a bit to enhance his creativity, but he wasn't addicted to them. And when he made The Eminem Show he was on probation, so he was probably 100% sober.
