Yes. It feels forced to me. He has been trying to recapture the magic since his comeback. Relapse had a lot of references to his early albums, and he would he say so in the interviews. Then, for Recovery, he says that he went back to the old records to find what made them meaningful.

It's almost like Relapse he was trying to get back to SSLP/MMLP, and with Recovery, he was trying to get back to TES/8 Mile. Perhaps now he's revisiting his old material in the proper manner for MMLP. IMO, it's always forced when an artist tries to go back, and Relapse and Recovery were obviously forced.

Not that I mind it, I enjoy what he creates. But it would be nice to see him move forward instead of trying to rehash. I think Eminem never really knew who he was as an artists.

I honestly think MMLP was the only time he actually knew who he was. Everything on MMLP came straight from his heart. SSLP was him being hungry, trying really hard to to create the slim shady persona. TES is basically Em trying to be politically conscious because people said he was just a shock value artist. Encore is basically the same as TES but he was on drugs. Relapse was him trying to force a new sound and experiment a little after his hiatus. Recovery was him trying to appeal to a younger audience and trying to appease the people who disliked Relapse. I feel like MMLP2 will be him appealing to his hardcore fans and shying away from the Recovery mentality.

I like it. He was awesome back then. If he can revisit that time while being original too, then awesome.

I am really curious on how Em composes himself with the blonde hair when he's alone with his own thoughts, or with his family.

He has commented before on how it reminds him of the lowest point in his life. Can we assume Em has dealt with those demons and thus is legitimately able to move on? Or is this just a PR/business move, and deep down he actually can't stand it?

Without sounding like a faggot, I would say I am genuinely scared for Eminem's sake. He has always suggested towards Interscope's strict involvement in his career, I think it would be pretty ridiculous if it is them who are guiding Em's direction with this album, and he is just going along with it.

I don't think he made MMLP 2 with the intention of making it MMLP 2. I have a feeling the music came out that way and that was the only name he could give it.

Um...

Personally, I think he's been trying to recapture that 'mmlp wow factor' since Relapse and... he knows that he hasn't achieved it, he's seen and felt the reactions and knows he hasn't done it...

Relapse 2 was initially intended to be like an 'mmlp2', said it himself...

So I mean... he tried a kind of sensationalist abstract psychopathy with Relapse and it had almost no effect, in terms of controversy (and only a handful of critics acknowledged the amazing technical work on the album).. then he tried again with Recovery, and whilst many characterize the album as pop-rock-rap or whatever... his ATTITUDE... it's like he was trying to emulate MMLP attitude; he's angry as fuck and attempting to be offensive throughout... but he tries to marry it with commercialism...

So I think he thought perhaps he could have the best of both worlds and kind of... mature AND get that MMLP-factor with 'Recovery'... and didn't again... so now I think he's just tackling the elephant in the room head-on; knows this is make or break ("life's too short to not gooo for broke") and knows he will never escape the MMLP comparison... so I think that's why he's spent a long-time making this, named it this to let you know it's a direct competition to the comparison... and, I think he's taken on the visuals of that era in a symbolic way to suggest he's giving you that feeling again.

My personal input anyway yo.

Oh my gosh I put Natasha Bendingfield in a washer
Watch it go from rinse to spin cycle
Its like I got ya hypnotising like I gotcha
I gotcha pychologically fucked
Michael would like an apology what
Tell that psycho to stick a Tyco truck and a white tricycle up his butt
And glue the seat of bicycle to his nuts
I'm as cold as a muthafucking icicle on my nut
I aint nuttin' nice, man I like to pull knives and I like to cut
The poster addict for post tramatic stress
I guess this is the most dramatic I've been in a while
This is the closest that its come to the Marshall Mathers
I can hear him start to gather
I don't paint the portrait of the picture perfect Partridge family
This ain't your orphan Annie, no this is more uncanny
Kick down Dakota Fannings front door while the whore is tanning
(He can't say whore)
Of course he can, man he just saw her fanny then murdered her while he danced around the room and wore her panties

Relapse wasn't close enough for him, he wanted more.

So here's to this album being better than the classic that is Relapse. :b:

To me......Relapse was Em doing something he'd never done his whole career.......make an entire album about being a serial killer. Sure, he'd visited that theme in the past, but he basically focus 95% of the album on it.

I don't think he was trying to capture any part of the MMLP with Recovery. Eminem said it himself in interviews: he went back to TES era and tried to capture those sounds. It shows as well.

Relapse, as you say, was him back to being an arse-hole again, but it was executed much differently. For the best really. I still don't want a re-hashed version of ANY of his albums.
Relapse was let down by a plethora of un-relatable content and annoying accents. Only the fans will appreciate it for what it was.

I don't understand how the MMLP is an elephant in the room. It is his best work for sure, but it is joined by at least two other brilliant albums. He should realise that it was a few tracks which really pushed that album to classic status, and thus aim to push his music into new territory whilst trying (not forcing) to create some more conceptual songs with previously untouched topics in the rap genre.

I think the biggest elephant in the room is 3 albums with a fairly mediocre reception compared to his first three.
