I like listening to it when I'm thrown off, but never would on the regular. Kinda gay. Just saying. Em isn't the GOAT either. If you think Em is the GOAT, you're probably a young white dude. He's released 2 great cds and one good. 2 shit ones and 2 sub-par ones.. Jay has released 2 great cds and 6 good ones. The Roots, 6 GREAT cds.. Nas 3 GREAT cds 4 good ones, the list goes on...
So Ice Cube has been a part of 3-4 classic albums, does that make him better than Eminem???
Jay and Em both have 2 classics hands down, and another one often considered one as well. And what happened H2H on one of the best hip hop collaborations of modern day.....Em murked Jay.
Rakim, Eminem, Nas, KRS-One, Big L. Those are my Top 5. Jay resides in the 6-10 for me, same with Biggie, Pac, Kool G Rap, and than the 10th changes daily.
Also Nas only has one sure fire 100% classic in Illmatic, and one that could be considered classic in It Was Written. Who else considers any other album of his to be remotely close to classic??? Nas has been better than Em lately though. Untitled and Life Is Good > Relapse and Recovery.
Also, if you're going to call Encore shit, than be prepared to call MCHG and Kingdom Come shit, because they were. Magna Carta was Jay's worst album since Kingdom come. Jay has also released material that felt forced and didn't need to be released. I remember being upset with Blueprint 2, Dynasty, Kingdom Come was terrible, and Magna Carta was terrible too. So Jay hasn't done anything good since 2009 with Blueprint 3, which was a hell of a lot better than the 2nd one. In my mind Jay's done 2 good things since Black Album in 2003, American Gangster and Blueprint 3. Kingdom Come was terrible, Watch the Throne was whack and average lyrics at best, and Magna Carta was weak too.
And a prime Jay released The Dynasty, which was sub par to say the least. At least we know in Em's absolute prime in the late 90's and early 00's, he never released anything whack. Even on Em's worst albums, songs like Yellow Brick Road, Like Toy Soldiers, Mockingbird, Deja Vu, Going Through Changes are present, which are better than the best tracks on Jay's weaker albums, IMHO. Also, HTS > Watch the Throne.
Nas is the only rapper alive and relevant fucking with Em IMO. He went though a rut with I Am... and Nastradamus though. Stillmatic is dope, but it gets overrated by hip hop heads, basically because it was so much better than the previous two, still doesn't even come close to matching his first two. Nas actually has the same problem Em does, his work after his early greatness doesn't quite match it, but he's still dope.
And I'm black, but what does race have to do with it???
