There are many tracks on there that imply he wants to make music like he did back then, but you're acting like the fact that it isn't identical it means it isn't a sequel. In just about every other medium of entertainment a sequel that is essentially an updated carbon copy of the original, is frowned upon. Sequels are usually supposed to be an evolution of the first, or the next logical progression. Not just a track for track attempt at a remake.

This became most clear to me when they put out the new album cover. Yes, it is literally him "revisiting" his old house, but they added the new logo. Small detail, but if they wanted to make it as perfectly similar as possible they would have kept the logo that they know is classic. The new logo was an obvious sign that they were revisiting the past, but with a modern twist. It's clear when you look at the album: this is not old Em. This is the new Em, going back to his older days. You should have all expected a modern twist on this. I don't know where anyone got the idea that it would look or sound identical to the first.

Exactly
If this wasn't called MMLP2 people wouldn't be hating the tracklist that much

I'm just going to say this. The new Eminem is a bit mediocre. I don't know if he's been holding himself back on songs lately (I think this is the truth because god knows he absolutely destroys his recent freestyles) or what but he's just lacking the intensity and blazing lyricism that the old Eminem had (Choke no whore 'till the vocal cords don't work in her throat no more). It's not even about the subject matter, just the actual overall rhymes he's been putting out sound so forced and mainly consist of double entendres and chopped up nasal shouting wordplay leading to average punchlines. I thought when he said he was "revisiting" the MMLP that he was going to stop and think about what a pop act Recovery was and rethink his style of rapping to go back to the fire and intensity he used to have. My theory was made even more promising when he said in a feature "Almost wish I never made Recovery, kid".

Then Survival came out, and I literally thought it was recorded not long after Recovery because it sounded so similar, and I was pretty okay with it at first considering it was a COD song that would eventually mean nothing in the long run. Then Berzerk came out and I actually thought it was a good song, the radio single of the album to compensate for the rawness. The song even mocked other rappers for dumbing down their music. By then my theory had been pretty much cemented as valid in my brain, and boy was I fucking pumped. Then I read this shit and it's like my heart sunk into my literal asshole and everything I could have ever wanted from this album got flushed down the drain.

Yeah exactly. The only thing I'm not really happy about is Survival, I mean I like the song but not that much for it to be on the album. Or yes but that means one less new song.

I like Fun. so Nate Ruess is cool.
Rihanna is Meh.
I fuckin' hate Skylar tho.
Really don't know how to feel about this one...'bout to take a month long hiatus from rap forums because of this, can't stand the talk.
Kendrick balances out Skylar though, and to date, Em hasn't ever gotten renegaded on a track( touchdown doesn't count).
Rap God should be interesting.
Yo, but if the Skylar song has an ADK beat, I will find that dude+Em+Dre+Rubin punch 'em and have sex with their wives, daughters and entire female extended family, which might make me feel better.
Two female hooks isn't so bad though.
Only one skit that I could see.
TL;DR I'm scared as fuck guys, scared as fuck.
Yo, what the fuck is Survival doing on there?
