This became most clear to me when they put out the new album cover. Yes, it is literally him "revisiting" his old house, but they added the new logo. Small detail, but if they wanted to make it as perfectly similar as possible they would have kept the logo that they know is classic. The new logo was an obvious sign that they were revisiting the past, but with a modern twist. It's clear when you look at the album: this is not old Em. This is the new Em, going back to his older days. You should have all expected a modern twist on this. I don't know where anyone got the idea that it would look or sound identical to the first.
