The tracklist sounds dark as hell. Skylar CAN have dark hooks. So can Rihanna.

Let's say Survival is the album's anthem, pump-up track. Cool. It does it's job.

Let's say Berzerk is the album's hype. It does it's job.

The rest of the tracks? We have no idea. How about we all stop bitching about it being Recovery 2 (IMO not a bad thing, Recovery was great) and have trust in Marshall that he knows what he's doing. Bad Guy? Rap God? Legacy? Evil Twin? The Monster? Come on, guys. Those sound dark and they feel Eminem-ish. Rap God? Really? His confidence is through the roof. He knows it.

This album is going to be amazing, and if it's not, then fuck me in the ass, I'm wrong.

i totally agree, im sure were in for a treat

Man, I just listened to Survival(iTunes version) on my good speakers for the first time. That beat actually bangs. I'd like a liiiiiitle more bass but otherwise it actually sounds a lot better than when I was listening on my mp3 player with headphones and shit

That made me feel better about the album, because when I'm bumping it in my car it'll sound fresh. And yeah, as an old Eminem fan I really don't get the complaints. In 2005, I thought he was done being a good rapper forever. I may not like everything he puts out though, but he's added two more good LP's to his catalouge and we're about to get another one.

Actually, I'm getting a Blueprint vibe from this. Not sonically or beats wise,but...

-One guest star rapper who's hot right now
-Throwback production(with Jay it was soul, with Em it's classic rap)
-Relatively short number of songs
-Hungry artist who hasn't dropped a truly great CD in awhile

I still think this CD will be a beast. Not a 5 mic classic, but an excellent album that solidifies his top 5 dead or alive status. I think some of these songs will be more creative than we can imagine by reading titles. Just the vibe I get(when I drive by 6...oh wait).

I would love a Blueprint type album from Em, but so many people would hate it. Oh well.

This is why I don't have astronomical expectations for the album. I did it with Recovery, and that wasn't a good move.

Exactly. Enjoy everything for what it is, cause SSLP/MMLP/TES Eminem days are long gone. That was 11-13 years ago. Do people realize how ridiculous this is, comparing a musician and hating on him cause his shit isn't as good as it was a decade ago? :facepalm

whore to a chainsaw wrote:I find it utterly annoying to consume all of this predictable, verbal soup-ass... a result of the fingers of some of the most die-hard eminem fans in the world. (I would fucking hate to hear the majority of you play the piano.)

Anyone who is dismissing this album without hearing it IS ignorant. Not as my subjective opinion would indicate but as an objective fact.

That being said, I completely understand those that feel slightly worried due to what has been revealed about the album thus far. Eminem walked into this one himself when he chose to name the album after the artistic masterpiece that is The Marshall Mathers LP, however, the man (granted his mind isn't adulterated from some sort of benzodiazepine haze) clearly knows what he is doing.

He CLEARLY knows what he is doing.

I want you guys to think about the second verse from "berzerk."

This is what was intended to be the first taste of the album. He's rapping about "showing up in his nike shoes" "His coat fresher than wet paint" and then he gives some sort of meta-verbal representation of these mundane, cliche and shitty rap lyrics not registering in his mind with the "Bow chicka wow wow" lines and then clearly tells us "Dumb it down... I don't know how." "At least I know that I don't know, question is are you bozo's smart enough to feel stupid? Hope so."

Again on survival... when he says "I want you to doubt me, I don't want you to believe... because this is something I MUST do to succeed" there is a 1/4 flash to the dresden house from the end. Not even long enough for it to register in the human mind but it is what I believe to be a a method of subliminally putting the image of MMLP2 in the minds of those watching so they may link those lyrics in their heads to the overall product & how they may apply when considering we're getting as a whole.

Go back and think about those berzerk lyrics though... from verse 2. WHY WOULD HE SAY THAT IF IT WERENT TO DO EXACTLY WHAT ANOTHER USER SUGGESTED HERE WHEN THE SONG DROPPED? There is literally nothing else that he could be saying with that verse other than "You are going to be blown away. I am going to make sure you feel retarded when you are blown away."

Really think about it and try to determine what you believe.

1. That this means absolutely nothing.
2. That this means he's purposely setting the "bar low" (as referenced in the third verse of berzerk) so we will all feel stupid when the real album comes out. What could we possibly be feeling stupid about based on what we have to base our opinions on? Thinking ANY of this negative stuff about the album based on what he's giving us now before we actually hear it and are blown away.

I know it's been referenced but really think about it. This IS what is happening here. There is no other explanation. I like Survival but I see the point and the issue you all have with it being on the main tracklist. It doesn't stand up against the tracks on MMLP and not just from a "style" standpoint... but from overall objective quality. None-the-less, I would say if it were placed on Recovery it would be a top 5 song... but could you imagine if the first line in "Legacy" implied subtext of something along the lines of "I fucking told you so, retards." (I'm an adapter line)

I think this album is going to be sick.

I also genuinely believe that he has been in post acute withdrawal from benzodiazepines (which causes major brain fog and disables most people for years... explaining his recluse-like behavior. I think it has more to it than simply his level of fame.) This takes YEARS to recover from after long term benzo use (I'm suffering from it myself. Even as I write this, I'm having a very hard time verbalizing my thoughts.) and the art of rap itself... that has got to be THE hardest thing that someone could keep up with as a profession while in benzo recovery (which seriously does take years. Check out the wikipedia page for "long term benzo use" or "post acute withdrawal from benzodiazepines".

What that means is when he released relapse and even recovery... his brain WASN'T operating at 100%. it couldn't have been. As more time passes, his mind will keep healing and right around now I could see it being about as close to perfect as it will ever be.

Eminem cares greatly about blowing people away. He's got something up his sleeve.

I still think he's been doing this shit his whole career and to this day no one has picked up on a lot of the stuff. (his verse on no love dissing wayne the whole time and saying he sucks without HAVING to diss him.)

No... something massive is coming. This will not be "meh". There is no way Eminem would let it be "meh" and even an amazing CD like relapse/recovery would be "meh" if titled MMLP2 in the minds of most people. He knows this. He has never put out something (not to be redundant) "meh" except while fucked up on downers with Encore... and only on a couple of songs but that's not the point.

This will be something HUGE. You heard it here first.

Bullshit. It's going to suck.

Man I remember watching the VH1 Ultimate Album about MMLP and I was blown away. :o
He was like the biggest star in the world.
Controversial as they come, at the same time cool and a real rebel, his mic skills were untouchable.
Nobody wanted to fuck with the white boy, and there were a LOT of awesome MC's.

My older brother taunted me how I will never live in the age to witness Em in his prime, being at the pinnacle of relevance. Like reaching Michael status far as popularity goes.

And then after watching that ad on the MTV awards ... I was like holy shitballs this isn't happening.
Did Eminem just go back blonde, release an awesome bird-flipping screensaver and a glimpse of an awesome chourse ?!? :worship:
Call his album the MMLP2, rap about bringing back the Vintage Slim ( bitch chant ) .. :o
I jizzed in my pants ...

Then the hype was getting even bigger, and the awesome album cover , then Berzerk started sounding better by every listen, than the fantastic video for Berzerk , the wierd ass interview on ESPN...

I was living a Stan dream. :8)

Then I heard Survival, felt like a revisit to 2010 more than a revisit to the 2000.
But, after reading how the folks from COD forced Em to make the song more and more anthemic, making him record it to get people hyped from the trailer I realised that this Survival is different than the one Em wanted.

That didn't kill my buzz, then the Tracklist came out, felt dissapointed because of some ladies on the album and the lack of real MC's. But was overwhelmed by the awesomness of some other song names.

To recap, this is gonna be one Dark ass album and I can't wait to see it on the shelves November fifth. :8)

Exactly. It's like sports. You reach a prime and then decline afterwards. You can still be great, but nobody stays at the same level forever. None of the greats ever have

Oh, and SWA said this:
Your eyes are glued to Rihanna and Skylar
.

Nothing wrong with that. :8)

You guys watch the VH1 Ultimate Album MMLP and kinda experience the true artistic greatness He was in the 2000's.
We are f'ckin honored to be witnessing blonde Shady dropping another MMLP.
Em isn't relevant now as he was during the first MMLP ( back then He was like fucking Elvis ) but be sure that we are in for a dark ass album proper to the title.

Exactly my point. But people think Eminem is a God where somehow it's possible for him to be the same guy he was with the same drive and way of thinking 13 years ago.

I honestly got over the whole Rihanna and Skyler thing, Em ain't stupid, he know's people expect great things from this album, he wouldn't collab with them if it was going to suck, I wouldn't be surprised of those songs are cynical as fuck
