Eminem started out a speed rapper in Soul Intent.

Not that this, in itself, means he is "good"...but his fast rap wasn't even close to as sharp as this back then. It was actually pretty sloppy and hard to understand at all haha. Once again I'm not saying he's a "better rapper" overall because of it, but in my opinion Rap God is probably his best display of fast rapping he's done.

It's difficult to understand because of the audio quality, not because of Eminem's performance.

I love how whenever Em does something particularly well...certain people always have to act like that is "all" he can do. When he put out Relapse "all he could do" was say fucked up shit and rhyme well 'just because you can rhyme doesn't mean your songs don't suck because of the shitty accent'. When he put out Recovery people acted like "all he could do" was make pop records these days and that he mostly lost his ability to make great, hard rap records, all he did was make popular rap songs. Now Rap God releases and apparently now "all he can do" is rap fast about nothing. Don't act like these crowds didn't exist either.

If we piece together all of the "complaints"...

He can rhyme really well and tell dark stories/say dark shit
He can make substantial emotional songs that are relatable
Can make radio-friendly hit singles
He can rap fast as fuck and remain complex with crazy flows

To me these complaints are not complaints at all haha it makes him look good as fuck. It's just that to make him look bad you just isolate whatever it is he is doing well at the time and say that's all he's good at haha. Just because he hasn't made some insane mix of all four of those doesn't mean his ability to do the other just...disappears. It's as if unless he did something yesterday then he never showed he could do it at all.
