I remember Drake saying that he carries a Smartphone(Laptop) with him all the time to jot down his thoughts. So, could be a shot.

Then it's definitely a shot. It's not just some random line. Eminembase is so smart that he outsmarts himself. Of course it's a shot. Drake is stupid. Em writes it down. I bet studies show writing down your thoughts help you learn better than using a phone. All rappers these days be carrying around them labtops, jotting down their thoughts even on twitter.

I thought it was funny. In comparison to the beat-drop, really obvious "punch" everybody hates it was just a little bit of wordplay that kickstarted the rhyming. That was one of many things I liked about the song. It was heavier on wordplay and lighter on "punchlines" if you know what I mean.

I feel the same. I'm kind of tired of all the punchlines.

They call him a "rap bot " (or computer) for him to rap like a computer it must be in his genes/jeans so he's got a laptop in his back pocket.(smartphone ) which is a computer like a laptop

It's an extended metaphor, it's dope because it's understated and Eminem doesn't make it so freaking obvious like "Get it? I said IN MY JEANS". Or whatever he was doing during the Recovery era.

I too think the laptop line kind of felt like a filler.. but there are a lot of bars in Rap God I think he just filled it to show off his delivery.. so that kinda seems like the point of Rap God to begin with.. It's not a great song or anything.. it's just amazing to see him change gears so effortlessly.

So, in that case.. I really dont get annoyed by the lazy/filler lines. If he wanted it to be a super lyrical song it would of been a Stan or The Way I am .. not watch all my crazy flows, speed and ability to drop word play over 6 minutes.
