thanks man i'll check that out

i had it, not good at all, never buy usb, buy a amplifier, or mixer with one built in, then a mic

yeah, but it will costs him hundreds of dollars to get all that... he'll need a great sound card, a great pre-amp, a great mic to have a great sound... I don't know about setups like the one Harlem has, but with a regular computer, the most important thing is the sound card, then it's the pre-amp (if you need one) and then it's the mic...so no matter how good your mic is, if the pre-amp or the sound card aren't as good as the mic, well the mic won't work to its fullest potential...that means you need a lot of money to get real good sounding vocals... I have the USB mic and it does the job as good as some usual condensor mic with pre-amps... of course, it's not as good as high quality mic, but it's well worth the low price... the mic isn't the most important thing to get good sounding vocals, you need good equipment to support it and you need to mix it well, so that's why I think for someone who starts, like steve, it's better to get the USB mic, which is the cheapest, and you'll get a decent quality, and you can save your money to buy a great setup later if you're interested :P

i think i'll still go with that mic i just have to read some reviews on it lol
idk hmm i guess i'm gonna shop around and if i really get into the rap music i'll probably buy a setup but right now i just want something that has a good quality with out spending over $150

but yeah thanks for the help everyone

It depends where u wanna do most of the work. I put reverb, effects, noise reduction and equalising from the console so i get a 50% clean verse. It only needs Cool Edit Pro 2 noise reduction afterwards, to remove the music sample from it and the dynamics processing and you get a studio verse.

well said... some program may be better than others, but the important thing is how well you know your program and how well you can use it...
