It's a football reference. When someone fumbles, their team or the opposing team recovers the football.
So, somewhat of a triple entendre.
1.) What good is a fumble recovery if he's gonna fumble the recovery? 2.) What good is a drug addiction recovery if he falls back into drugs? 3.) What good is Recovery if he follows up with a bad album?
I thought it was pretty clear he was talking about the label wanting him to repeat Recovery's success, and he was responding "What's the point in making another very successful album if it's not very good because it's rushed/not thought through/whatever?"

He could have mostly been referring to a drug recovery (the football pun is present too of course)... but I doubt he would use that word and say that without it being some kind of dig at the album... because he's far too aware of the significance of that album title and what it could sound like.
I don't think he dissed it, I think he was saying that it was successful and attempting to recreate it and fail for the sake of sales would be the fumble.
