Spin:

It's also insane that he's not just cravenly trying to repeat the huge, huge, huge success of 2010's five-times-platinum Recovery, which was mostly "screamo raps plus huge goofy choruses." (Only three songs here attempt that formula — "Legacy," "Stronger Than I Was," and "The Monster" — and they are, accordingly, the only three songs worth skipping.)

Because mbdtf is one of the best albums of the last 10 years

Even you gotta admit MMLP2 is pretty damn good. When Eminem gets 70-80 scores on reviews you know it's pretty good. His god damn classics, which shit on anything Kanye has ever produced, scored in the mid and upper 70's.

Eminem's controversy and heavy lyricism is his deficit; he will never reach the 80s/90s unless he cuts most track times, shortens his verses, has better production (the production on this album is great, but it could be better) and thus makes each track an easier initial listening experience.

I don't necessarily want him to do this, but he just won't get the recognition he deserves from most critics.

It may not be what we want."

5/5 lol...

im a BIG Eminem fan but this album is not deserving a 5/5 at all come on !

Im ok with a 4/5 which is a really good album imo, but for a legendary rapper like Eminem I was disapointed a bit...it wouldnt be honest to say that MMLP 2 is ''perfect''. It could have been better, like I said in another thread Eminem is trying to do too much with his flow and totally forgot how to make real solid songs with flawless substance like he did with Eminem Show for exemple. But yes he's still good and in general im happy with the album, its a good album...just not a classic like his first 3. Unfortunately.

impressionofsoundscan.com :

Never heard of that site but I only posted it because he's a mod over at SL and an active member on here.

Funniest review, yet. Guy tries too hard to be a hipster faggot. Keep in mind, his favourite artist is Kanye and he rated MCHG and NWTS above this.

Hipsters. As far as "Yeezus" reviews, it's the hipster rating.

MBDTF was legit classic, though.

I stopped here

"The Marshall Mathers LP 2 is almost completely devoid of actual content or actual emotion beyond Bad Grandpa thinking he can beat Mike Tyson, but actually having the skills to back it up."

What a terrible ass review , even though they gave it an 8.

Negative review from Stereogum:

"Em’s last album, 2010′s ridiculously popular Recovery, was a leaden drag, too, but at least it was an honest leaden drag, a public attempt to tackle demons and make amends. Here, Em undoes all that in a halfassed quest to reclaim the demonic verve of the first Marshall Mathers. But there’s no joy in it, no real playfulness, none of that old wonder at the things that words can do. It’s soggy, bilious, rancid, way too impressed with itself. Em was once rap’s giddiest, most inventive stylist, and now he’s a sad echo of a long-dead self. So listen to The Marshall Mathers LP 2, in its 80-minute endlessness, as endurance-test noise music. Or, better yet, don’t listen to it at all."
