“Relapse” was followed a year later by “Recovery,” which was darker and generally more well-received."

I don't get how you can have credibility and call Recovery a darker album than Relapse. smh.

Nice interview. Again doesn't sound like he's retiring...

Weird that he speaks within MMLP2 as if he is.

Feels like he's just beginning to tap in to new musical potential, and now he's ditched the toy producers of Recovery and is diving head first in to surprising samples and musical adventures... the potential for where he could go next feels huge.

I mean there's about 10 distinct different musical directions within MMLP2 alone which could become entirely focused styles; imagine an album like "Rap God" - with its almost trance like quality, with lyrics flying at you from every angle, almost space-like, head-spinning.

But in reality the statement about something to look forward to aka a tour has me really excited. Missed out on the home and home concerts so I'm really hoping for a tour for this album.

The album hasn't released yet, so maybe he's waiting until it's in stores to finally discuss retirement. Pretty sure people will be shocked when they hear the Bad Guy epilogue.

great read. i think, after reading that, there is no chance he is retiring soon. i'd give at least one more album but probably 2. after hearing this album too he is definitely at his best

Sounds from that interview like he's not retiring. This album does feel like he's closing in on that though. He can't keep doing this hiding for years shit, he's not getting any younger.

Hopefully the next album is two years away at the latest. He's in his second prime. He needs to make as much material during this burst of creative energy as he can.

What I don't understand is why he's so critical when it comes to his albums. Every album is a time stamp of his life at that point. Recovery was serious, but he was feeling serious at that time, so it's a reflection of that.

At least he didn't apologize for Recovery on this album.
