Is MMLP2 better than GKMC?

I think you're way ahead of yourself, buddy. There is nothing monumental about The Marshall Mathers LP 2, besides the fact that it is the sequel to The Marshall Mathers LP.

There is nothing monumental about Eminem touching topics he has been his entire career. "Legacy", "Rhyme or Reason", "So Far", "Survival", "So Much Better", "Brainless", "Asshole"...all rehashed topics he has been using only from different perspectives and a lot more bar splitting that fucks up the flow.

A monumental album would be filled with songs that Eminem has not done before. Topics that he has not yet explored.

GKMC is a monumental album because...well, this is the only time we'll be hearing an album like this from Kendrick. He wanted to share his life story and give us an idea of who he is, by creating this cinematic album.

You are all experiencing the hype of MMLP 2 now, but just give it a few months and you will all be back to your normal selves.

If you have not listened to GKMC thoroughly, then why even bother posting in this thread?

To be fair, NO albums Ems made ever sound the same. So Far, Love Game, Rhyme or Reasons sound like nothing he's done before. The fact it's his first major album allows everything to look new and fresh. The 2nd album is the hardest after such an amazing first one. We'll see how he holds up over time, I think he'll do fine. But it'll be hard to create another classic. That's what makes guys like Em, Nas, and Jay amazing. They were able to create classics after their first ones.

It's cohesive, soulful, whilst still being raw and uncaged. It has everything a hip-hop head wants, and something for the hipsters. GKMC is, IMO, the album Eminem never made. I feel like Eminem - if he had that concept - would have destroyed a conceptual album about his rise to hip-hop stardom.

GKMC is dope and IMO a classic in the game. But it's only better than SSLP as far as Ems 3 classics. It doesn't hold a candle to MMLP, TES.

I think a concept where we're going through a day in the life of Em growing up would be dope, but he's too old now to do it IMO.

He's gotta go in a different direction though, he can't just release the same album. I hope Kendrick will be like Em or Pac, in the sense that he never releases the same album twice.
